We paid nearly $500 for two nights at the Kimpton and expected much better. The curtains were disheveled, the bedding was dirty, and the room was freezing with only thin blankets. The refrigerator and light above it didn’t work, the bathroom made loud noises throughout the night, and the shower wasn’t properly cleaned. To make matters worse, we nearly stepped in what appeared to be urine on the elevator floor when returning around 11 PM. The overall room, cleanliness, and comfort were far below what you’d expect from a Kimpton property.
On a positive note, the staff were friendly, responsive, and did their best to address our concerns. Housekeeping promptly changed the bedding and provided an additional blanket. It’s clear that these issues reflect larger problems with property maintenance and management, rather than the employees themselves. The staff deserve better support, and guests deserve a better experience, especially for the price!!

A short walk from inner harbor. The building is great with grand staircases and elevator hall from the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad.
This place is dog friendly and the bedrooms are just perfect.

Got put into an “adjoining room” where the only sound isolation was a simple thin door between us and next door. We are not complainers, but it was as if our neighbors were in the same room.
Even moderate conversations were like they were talking to us. We made it through one night, but threw in the towel before struggling through a second.
The hotel acknowledged this was a known issue with this room, but declined to offer us a room change or hotel change or even a refund. The front desk was disempowered to do anything. We checked out at 10pm before going to bed and they still charged us full price.
There were myriad other issues (no trash can in room even after three requests, housekeeping not arriving till 5:15pm, valet took 25 minutes, phone receiver didnt work) but all of those could be overlooked if the room itself was tolerable.
Worst run of all the IHG properties I’ve ever stayed in, which number in the dozens. The inability for IHG to provide any kind of relief other than “sincere apologies” has lead me to cancel my Gold Elite IHG membership.

Our stay at Kimpton Hotel Monaco Baltimore was a very mixed experience. There were some positives, but overall, the level of service and follow-through did not meet what I would expect from a Kimpton property.
On the positive side, the room was a good size and felt quite gracious compared with many hotel rooms in the city. The hotel also seemed relatively quiet during our stay, which made for a comfortable environment.
Unfortunately, the service was where our experience fell short. From the moment we checked in, we found ourselves having to repeatedly follow up on the same requests. What was particularly frustrating was that the hotel reached out to us, but there was still no follow-through afterward. We went to bed Friday evening at midnight with no resolution, then followed up into Saturday morning, without ever receiving the assistance we had been expecting and promised.
Ultimately, we had to track down someone from housekeeping ourselves to get assistance with our request. That level of effort should not be necessary for a guest, particularly when the hotel has already been made aware of the issue the previous night at check-in.
The lack of responsiveness and follow-through significantly impacted the stay. I would describe the experience as okay, and the fact that we never heard from a single staff member regarding our concern during the duration of our stay was unacceptable and not our experience with Kimpton properties.

The most aggressively average stay that was absolutely not worth the price. I stayed for one night to attend a concert at CFG and picked the hotel based on the location to the arena. It was a convenient location, but there were enough small inconveniences that made the stay woefully overpriced. When you walk into the building from the valet there are no signs or employees to direct you to the reception desk. I aimlessly walked around until an employee from the attached restaurant directed me to go to the elevators and go up a floor to find reception. Check-in was fine, the employees were nice, but they gave me no information on the hotel at all. I had to walk around to find the fitness center and they didn’t give me an access code for the WiFi. The room was spacious and clean. However, the bathroom only had large towels, which was just odd? There was not a single hand towel or wash cloth, which was just inconvenient. I understand that the building is old, but the sink makes a jarringly loud noise when running. The AC was extremely loud to the point that I woke up in the middle of the night and had to turn it off. There was no amenities information card in the room, so I went downstairs to the restaurant to inquire about room service. The restaurant was busy, so I waited at the host stand for 30 minutes before I could speak to someone. I asked if they did room service and they said they only did take out, despite the fact that the IHG website says that room service is available. The host wrote down my name and my order on a napkin (I was never given a menu; I looked it up on my phone) and the host told me to come back in 30 minutes to pick it up (with no way to contact me for when it was ready). I recognize that these are first world problems, but I would have expected less inconveniences and better service for $367 a night. For what I got, I would have been better off staying at a holiday inn farther from the venue and saving my money. I’ve had great experiences at Kimpton hotels before, and to say this was disappointing would be an understatement.
