The Central Massachusetts location is only 35 miles from downtown Boston, as well as close to Worcester, Marlborough, Acton, Concord, Lexington and Nashua, New Hampshire.
This looks like a place that was beautiful and elegant about 20 years ago, but has since fallen into disrepair and disuse. My husband says "it's a charming place that has lost it's luster due to lack of maintenance and disuse."
Let's start with the positives:
- room was tidy upon arrival
- restaurant connected to hotel
- the restaurant dinner food was fine
- pool, with clean water and no strong smell
- friendly customer service
- room service
- large parking lot
- quiet location
- breakfast was very good
- lamps all worked and were easy to turn on and off
- there's a bottle filling station
- shower had good water pressure
Now the negatives:
- stained carpet. Everywhere
- roof leaks that are left to saturate public carpeted areas
- stained linens. We asked for new blankets when we found ours to be dirty. The new ones were also stained, but appeared to have atleast been washed.
- It took 6 hours and two phone calls for room service to bring the replacement blankets
- No free breakfast or complementary snacks
- Restaurant feels like the 'before' portion of a Kitchen Nightmares episode
- our room was extremely humid the entire 6-night stay and stank of old pool water
- we didn't like walking barefoot in our room because the carpet felt so grimy
- mold next to window. I found it on accident when I went to move the curtain
- no in-house laundromat
- Police cars (not hotel security) kept showing up in the parking lot. Never heard any sirens but they were there regularly.
Notes that are positive or negative depending on your perspective:
- no Bible, notepad, or pen in the room
- no cleaning service. No one enters your room unless specifically requested.
- soaps are all heavily scented

I am not a person to jump on Google and smear a business. However, the Boxboro Regency is pretty awful. Our room had quite a bit of mold in it-both in the air conditioning unit and in the bathroom. There was stained furniture and peeling paint. We were scheduled to stay for two nights, but we moved to a different hotel for the second night. We were refunded our money which was helpful.

I strongly recommend avoiding the Boxboro Regency Hotel. I recently stayed there for two nights while attending a wedding in Acton, MA, and while the hotel was budget-friendly and conveniently located, the lack of cleanliness made the stay unacceptable. More than ten families from our group stayed at the property, and the feedback was the same across the board: the rooms were dirty, damp, and poorly maintained. The carpets were stained and dingy, the wallpaper was peeling, the ceilings were visibly stained, and there were signs of mold and mildew in both the rooms and hallways. The bathrooms were also in poor condition, with toilets that struggled to flush and sinks that drained slowly. The hotel felt neglected and unsanitary, and it did not provide the clean, comfortable environment guests should expect. If you are looking for a clean and safe place to stay, this is not it. Do not stay at the Boxboro Regency Hotel.

I don't know where all of the one star reviewers stayed, but I don't think it was the same hotel. Most of the stars are for the exceptional service we received. We checked in in the midst of a LARGE group arriving and still received excellent service.
The hotel IS in need of a remake, no denying it. But we're talking some fresh paint and updated fixtures. There were no bedbugs or black mold; those comments in others' "reviews" made me wonder if there's a smear campaign against the place.
A few issues, very minor, that cost them more stars:
No microwave
Weak WiFi
Both ice machines were down
Mattress should have been replaced a long time ago
For the price I felt I got decent value for my money. If we ever have to stay in the area again I'll definitely return.
