Location is the only reason to consider the Bostonian. We had no towels when we checked in and did not receive any until 11:15 pm. We requested towels 3 times and the answer was always “20 minutes”.Our air conditioning in the room was literally a portable unit with an air intake hose duct taped to an open window. Wallpaper peeling on every wall, ceiling stained from water damage, the list goes on. You are paying for location, nothing else.

I have stay here twice before it was great definitely not this time. Parking garage was extremely rude and only 1 elevator worked wait took forever and no stair access from inside started entering from outside so i didnt have to wait. Wifi didn't work in hotel besides lobby. When I entered room attempted to get snack there was none. vending is no longer available which online doesn't state. Tried to store my water in other fridge didnt work and was leaking. Moved to the bathroom no washcloths or towels, hygiene products still in garbage can and all vanity lights were out. Went downstairs to complain and front desk and they said I cant help you a manager will be in at 7 you will have better luck then. This was extremely irritating but whatever. Went down at 7 no manager 730 no one, at 8 was told 830 no manager. Finally 930 a manager walks out and its the lady that was standing next to the guy that told me there was no manager in the night before this made me extremely livid. She proceeds to tell me all she can do is knock off 90 dollars and send a fridge up I said whatever I wanted to get on with my trip with my daughter. Next day I let it go was a lil irritated they just placed fridge on floor and left the broken one and didnt fix lights but she ended up refunding me 1 night of 3 night stay. So I just let it go. Monday morning of the game I look at account and they charged me another 730 which I already payed. Again went to front desk and she says it should fall off and i took Parking off. I told her I paid for parking through garage so they were going to charge me another 129 on accident. Could you imagine if that was all I had and it wasn't accessible it wasn't but thats not the point. So she said I had to wait for the manager again. wanted reassurance that I wasn't getting charged again. When the manager finally showed up and again he was there when I first approached desk but just stood there and listened and didnt intervene. Just talking about this is irritating. He couldn't assure me. should of refunded my 3 nights. I checked out Tuesday 8 am didnt get money back in my account till friday. Sad but won't stay there again

After staying here, I feel like I need to put a camera in my hotel room while im away. I was staying here with my toddler for two days. While we were out in the day time until night we came back and I noticed my room phone was changed. I already exchanged towels with housekeeping so there's no reason someone else would come into my room. It felt unusual and violating. This is not an emergency reason to come into someone's hotel room. Ill never stay here again. I dont feel like there's enough privacy at all So sketchy

This hotel is so crusty and old I can’t even believe it is labeled a 4 star hotel! Like how is that even possible? The furniture dates back to 1992, the lamp shades have stains (like how?). The carpet is so nasty I had to wear my flip flops to feel safe in this environment. The only spot I felt comfortable was in was the bathroom because it was the only room that felt “clean.” At night I could hear the pipes in the walls making noise back and forth, the wall paper is peeling away and the mini fridge is empty and I wouldn’t dare put my personal items in there! What I don’t understand is how any upper management finds this acceptable to reserve these disgusting rooms to clients, I would have left on day one if my work didn’t have me staying here! Oh and beware the ghetto rigged air conditioner on floor 7 with black tape busting through the plexiglass! The only perk of this place is the location! Stay at the Hilton Canopy next door if you have any standards, this price is not worth it!

My Wife and I (very senior) decided to take a short break to Boston and New York (see my further review for Kimpton era midtown NY) to celebrate our 32 year marriage (and both surviving cancer) We wanted a hotel fairly central so we could walk to most places and the Bostonian met that need (though there were other hotels close by with a similar price if you’re looking) These are the issues we encountered; none in themselves major but when you’re paying upwards of $1000 for just three nights, you have a certain expectation, and this hotel failed across the board. 1. Website, probably a IT failure by me but if you tried to access their website, phone or iPad, the display was so tiny and nothing I could do could expand it 2. I know Boston is old and has an interesting and dark history but I think the hotel goes over the top by ensuring its surroundings are also uninteresting and dark. There is dark wood everywhere , furniture, lobby, elevators, and the colour of the walls could easy have been a bright colour to allow a contrast but no it’s a dark non-descript colour see picture. It’s the kind of surrounding which could well fit in a Stephen King horror house story. 3. IT- I think the hotel remains very much in the past when it comes to modern IT needs. The WiFi was non existent, it might be on for a few mins and then nothing. We were told on the first day it would be fixed but never was. I had to resort to my own phone data. Further have they never heard of USB sockets? and they still needed to have extensions on the floor-see photo. 4. Our room had doors out to a Juliet balcony. The doors were very difficult to open and indeed shut and clearly previous occupants had the same issue as you can see from the knocks on the door frame-see picture. 5. the carpet had stains on the carpet-see picture and Pets are also welcome to this hotel…… While the AC worked ok, underneath the AC ventilator there was a large rectangular cover which appeared to be hanging loose off the wall-see picture. The shower, I appreciate is used by many people. However we both decided to stand off to one side of the shower (easy for you 20 somethings, for us seniors it carries an extreme risk of falling over!) as the centre floor tiles-see picture-looked very dark/dirty. Really nothing that a bit of bleach or new caulking could improve. 6 Elevators- there are only two and throughout our stay one lift was always out of service. The odd thing was they put an out of order sign by the lift on our floor but didn’t put one on the lobby floor, so it appeared both could be used for new guests arriving, see picture. 7 Customer Service-We had to wait in line a good 15 mins trying to check in with a lengthy line and there always seemed to be a shortage of front desk staff. While we were waiting at check in, a third person appeared and went behind the desk but occupied himself doing anything other than helping check in. When ever we went in/out lobby, there was no acknowledgment, or hello or good day etc, no interaction at all, they were reactive not proactive. They could also have easily put a sign up on the lobby desk front about both the wifi and elevators but no, nothing, so people who had a query had to waste time and wait only to be told they were being fixed! Yes it was a very good location, but there are many hotels equally close, equally expensive but are they more welcoming to their guests, who knows?
