My 2nd favorite hotel in New Orleans so far! I decided to celebrate my 50th birthday here, and despite a few hiccups, I still love this hotel and will absolutely return.
I LOVED my original room and private balcony. But imagine sitting on your balcony enjoying yourself and suddenly some unknown liquid starts coming down from the balcony above you! 😩 Apparently, the guest above me decided it was okay to pour coffee and juice off her balcony, which eventually created an awful ant problem on mine.
Now, I completely understand that the hotel did not create the situation. However, I do feel that initially it could have been handled much better.
Shout out to the engineering department because they were ON IT from their side and did everything they could to address the problem.
And then there was Ms. Cindy!! ❤️ I am SO thankful for her. She stepped in, rectified the situation, and went ABOVE AND BEYOND to make sure my 50th birthday experience ended on a positive note. She truly understands hospitality and made me feel like my concerns mattered. Because of her, what could have left a bad taste in my mouth became a positive birthday memory.
I still love this hotel, and I’m looking forward to seeing the upcoming renovations!
Side note: I do have to mention one manager, Mark. His customer service could definitely use some improvement. His interactions with both me and a few of my guests came across as rude, high strung, and lacking the warm New Orleans hospitality I’ve experienced from others at the hotel. When you’re in a management position, how you speak to guests and handle situations matters just as much as resolving the issue itself.
Ms. Cindy, THANK YOU for helping make my 50th birthday special. You are truly an asset to this hotel! ❤️

I was at the this hotel for 6 days. The hotel was clean. The meeting rooms were also clean and had a very professional appearance. They provided water for us daily during our training. All of their staff were very professional and friendly. I had a couple of issues with my room. Initially my air conditioning wasn’t working. I called the hotel front desk and someone came and replaced a bad part. The batteries in my tv remote were dead, they came and replaced that as well. There was even a house keeping manager that came around and made sure everything was ok. The chandeliers are beautiful in this hotel!!! The only negative was that a lot of the channels on the tv didn’t work.
There are multiple restaurants near by that you can walk to as well that are very good. Street car cafe and Luke are very good. Don’t go to Daisy Duke, their food is not good, no seasoning in the food.

I rarely allow one negative interaction to overshadow an otherwise lovely hotel stay, but unfortunately, my checkout experience at the InterContinental New Orleans was so unacceptable that I feel compelled to caution others. From the moment we arrived on Friday, our stay was wonderful. Check-in was seamless, the hotel was lovely, and everything had gone well until Sunday morning when we attempted to check out.
I called downstairs and asked that valet bring my rental car around. The front desk attendant told me she would notify valet. When we came downstairs, I could actually see my car parked on the ramp directly in front of the hotel. I motioned to the valet attendant that the vehicle was mine. His response? “How did your car get there?” I was completely confused. How would I know how my vehicle got there when I had handed the keys to the hotel’s valet the night before?
I was then informed that they could not locate my keys. I explained that Jovan had been working when I returned from dinner the previous evening and provided every detail I could remember to help them determine what had happened. Meanwhile, I had a flight to catch, and this wasn't simply my personal vehicle it was a rental car for which I was legally and financially responsible. The valet manager became involved and, to his credit, offered to personally drive us to the airport so we would not miss our flight. While I appreciated the gesture, getting us to the airport did not resolve the much larger problem: The hotel had possession of a rental vehicle, but could not locate the keys. Nearly an hour after I had initially called for my vehicle, I went inside and asked to speak with a hotel manager. And THAT is where an unfortunate mistake became an unacceptable customer-service experience. Rather than being met with concern, accountability, or even a simple apology, I was spoken to in a manner that I found incredibly demeaning, dismissive, and condescending as though I had somehow done something wrong by questioning how a valet service had my vehicle but could not account for its keys.
There was no, “Ms. Bettis, I apologize.” No, “We understand why you're concerned.”
No acknowledgment whatsoever that the hotel and/or its valet operation had created a serious problem for a guest who was trying to catch a flight. Over an hour later, the valet manager finally came inside and told me that the keys had been located.I want to be very clear about this: the valet manager took ownership of the mistake. He acknowledged what happened, apologized, and told me that he would address the matter with his staff. That is what accountability looks like. What was especially disappointing was that the hotel manager stood only a few feet away and witnessed that entire interaction. She heard him accept responsibility.
She still said absolutely nothing to me. Not an apology. Not an acknowledgment. Not even the basic courtesy one would expect from hotel management after a guest had spent more than an hour wondering what had happened to the keys to her rental vehicle while trying to make a flight. Mistakes happen. Keys can be misplaced. Employees are human. But how management responds when something goes wrong tells you everything about the hospitality of an establishment. A sincere apology and a little empathy could have changed the entire ending to this story. Instead, the treatment I received from hotel management erased the goodwill created during an otherwise enjoyable weekend. I travel extensively, and I do not take publicly criticizing a hotel lightly. But based upon this experience, I will never stay at the InterContinental New Orleans again, nor would I feel comfortable recommending it for a hotel stay, meeting, conference, or special event. Hospitality isn't measured only when everything goes right. It's measured by how you treat your guests when something goes wrong. Unfortunately, on Sunday morning, the InterContinental New Orleans failed that test miserably.

We stayed at the InterContinental New Orleans for one night. The location is great and very convenient, as it is close to downtown and many attractions. Unfortunately, the overall experience did not meet our expectations, especially for a hotel that presents itself as a luxury property.
We felt the hotel was overcharging for almost everything. Charging $11 for a bottle of water is simply outrageous. We were also charged a concierge fee for a service we did not use, which was very disappointing.
The room felt outdated and in need of renovation, and the condition of the elevator was particularly concerning. The elevator was extremely dirty and smelled as though someone had spilled alcohol or vomited inside it. This is not the level of cleanliness I would expect from a luxury hotel.
The breakfast buffet was also overpriced considering the quality of the food. In addition, the hotel seemed to have only one restaurant available with a very limited menu. We ended up having to find another restaurant outside the hotel for dinner, which was inconvenient.
Overall, while the location is excellent, the hotel did not feel like a true luxury experience. The prices and additional charges were excessive, while the condition of the facilities, food quality, and dining options did not justify the cost. Based on our experience, we would not stay here again.
