Unfortunately, I cannot recommend the Astor Crowne Plaza New Orleans French Quarter based on our experience.
Of all the issues we encountered during our stay, finding a MOUSE IN ROOM 701 was by far the most unacceptable. We also dealt with foul/unpleasant odors, extremely uncomfortable mattresses, valet issues and delays, and were directed to just leave our car parked in the middle of the street with oncoming traffic.
I understand that problems can happen at any hotel. What often determines how you ultimately feel about a business is how management responds when something goes wrong.
In our case, they simply haven't.
I contacted hotel management directly after our stay and gave them an opportunity to address my concerns privately. I received no response. I then followed up again. Still no response—not even an acknowledgment.
That's what ultimately prompted me to leave this review.
A mouse in a hotel room is serious enough. But for management to receive a complaint of this nature and not even respond makes the experience that much more disappointing.
I have documentation of both the conditions we experienced and my attempts to contact the property.
I genuinely hoped the hotel would address this directly and make things right. Unfortunately, after being ignored multiple times, I feel prospective guests deserve to know about our experience before deciding where to stay in New Orleans.

Yes, I read the reviews before booking, so I was fully aware that the hotel needed repairs and upgrades. I was completely fine with staying somewhere with character. I wanted to be close to the festivities, I’m an IHG member, and honestly, as long as everything worked, I was fine.
Unfortunately, everything did not work.
The first night, the air conditioning wasn’t working. Maintenance came and fixed it, but the damp, wet-air smell never went away. Then I discovered the iron was broken. It took almost 90 minutes and two phone calls just to get a working iron.
I also paid $5 for a bag of stale pretzels. When I mentioned it, the manager explained that March 2026 was the manufacturer’s suggested date. Why are we debating over stale pretzels? They were stale. 😂
Then the air conditioning went out AGAIN. The thermostat was reading 77 degrees, and at that point, I was simply ready to leave.
While I was out celebrating my 50th birthday, someone did come into the room and leave a very nice bucket of Prosecco and chocolates, which I appreciated. I’m just guessing whoever delivered it didn’t smell the wetness or feel how warm the room was. Lol.
I didn’t expect a brand-new or luxury hotel. I knew exactly what I was booking and was willing to overlook an older property because of the location and character. I simply expected the basic things in my room to work and issues to be handled appropriately.
The Prosecco and chocolates were a thoughtful gesture, but unfortunately they couldn’t make up for the overall experience.

I am extremely disappointed with the valet parking service at the Crowne Plaza New Orleans French Quarter. My son paid $60 for valet parking and trusted the valet staff with his Jeep.
While reviewing the vehicle’s camera footage, we saw the valet driver searching through my son’s vehicle. The center console was locked, yet the valet driver searched the keychain, found the key, unlocked the console, and opened it to look through the contents.
My son then spoke through the vehicle’s camera microphone and asked the valet driver what he was looking for. The driver immediately looked up in apparent shock, quickly closed the console, got out of the vehicle, and slammed the door.
This is extremely concerning and unacceptable. Paying $60 for valet parking should come with the expectation that your vehicle and personal belongings will be treated with respect and left untouched unless access is necessary for the parking service. Searching through a customer’s locked console is a serious breach of trust.
I strongly recommend that management investigate this incident, review the security/camera footage, and address the conduct of the valet employee. Customers should be able to trust that their vehicles and belongings are safe when they hand over their keys.

Staff were lovely. Excellent service from every member of the team. Night Manager Dorian and the night team were fantastic with the good ole welcome in.
Keefa and her dining crew - always a pleasure
Location is fantastic for hitting Bourbon St straight away. Too noisy for me unfortunately. I sleep light even with earplugs and the party peeps and players are drumming and hollering late into the morning.
The suite was large and roomy. Being an older building, everything has taken a beating but was functional.
The night I arrived the roof was leaking from the upstairs bathroom and had created a puddle by the bath. They offered to move me straight away without hesitation which i appreciated but cos im lazy, i didnt bother. Survived just fine for the 3-4.nigjts of my stay.
The taps on the sink, bath and shower leaked non stop simultaneously day and night like a mariachi band and the toilet joined in cos it didnt want to miss out.
Fitness centre is well equipped for those seeking another reason to sweat day and night, if the temperature isnt enough for you already.
The pool was one of the bigger laughs of my trip. Its hilarious. Equivalent of four bathtubs side by side, its good if you enjoy a cool off between sunbathing your butt cheeks. Not ideal for children looking for a chance to run around but the two young Spanish sisters the time I went were making rhe most of it in a polite and considerate manner - ola to my little amigos!
Fresh water and guest computer and printing available in lobby.
Seemed to be a lot guests enjoying just chilling in the lobby as it was always lively and people having a chat.
NB did get a bad case of the butt runs after the BLT salad at Bourbon House but I think it was just the lettuce not being a happy camper. Everything else was well cooked that I ate there and no further issues. But I also have a sensitive digestive tract compared to normal people so weird things can set me off. No reflection on the restaurant or its staff. I'm just glad the night tour I was supposed to be on got cancelled.
The destination fee sucked cos Im not sure exactly what I'm paying for 😅 couldn't exactly swim etc

Great location for Bourbon street and Canel street access. Noise level wasn't too bad, the guys drumming on buckets in the streets are annoying. You can hear them in your room until about 1am.
We stayed for 5 nights. Was not able to check in until 4pm, so our belongings was stored with the bellhop.
The rooms dont have a refrigerator or microwave but do have ice machines in the hallways.
We filled our cooler daily to keep our drinks cool, just wish I could heat up my pizza from the other night. (new orleans food is mediocre in general, 2 out of 5. Everything is the same, I highly suggest dont eat anything on bourbon street but find 4.5 rated restaurants away from canal street or bourbon street. Pay atleast $40 per person for food and you will enjoy it, our average dinner bill for two was $160)
Locals say the crime level is high just outside the hotel. We did witness a shooting that occurred around midnight while we was there (well the aftermath of it and the gunshots we heard from our room). Lots of police always day and night around the hotel including national guards.
The pool is okay, not huge so you will be talking with others and if there are children around, you will get splashed.
It's an old building as with most other locations in the French quarter, so expect dirty carpets and such. The hotel does try to keep everything clean, it's just old.
The room bathroom is old. Has a bathtub and shower curtain like a cheap motel. The shower head is about 5ft high, so myself being 6ft was awkward in there.
Traveler tip, dont wear sandals on bourbon street, always wear shoes.
Locals call it street gravey. They wash the street every night on bourbon street to wash away the pee, poo, vomit and dropped food and drinks. Bourbon street stinks like pee in general but watch out for those puddles.
