My overall experience was great. The staff was nice and polite, and the room was clean and well put together. It had that classic Holiday Inn look with the furniture and setup, so I liked that. I will say, though, it’s probably about time for them to update those tubs, but other than that, everything was solid. Anytime I needed something, the staff was right there.
Now, I will say this it was definitely an experience. Apparently, they had some kind of biker event going on in Lafayette that weekend, and it seemed like they had a big portion of the hotel booked. When I pulled up, I saw rows of bikes lined up outside. Walked inside, and it was pretty much bikers everywhere.
I ain’t gonna lie, it felt a little off at first. But me, I’m a tough guy. I’ve been around all types of people, especially being a truck driver and coming from my background. I don’t fear nobody but God. Still, I didn’t really like the vibe I was getting.
The main thing that stood out was an interaction in the elevator. I asked one of the bikers if he was going up or down, and he didn’t really say much just pointed down like he didn’t want to talk. It came off a little off to me, maybe even a little prejudice. Now, he did let me step off the elevator first, so I’ll give him that.
And to be fair, there were Black bikers there too. But overall, I just don’t really care to be around biker crowds like that. Some of them are cool, but some can come off a little standoffish. I guess I just ran into a bad batch that weekend, people trying to carry that tough persona.
I thought about saying something, because I’m the type that will speak my mind. But I had my family with me, my kids especially, so I had to move different. I can’t go back to how I used to be in my younger days. I got too much to lose now to be reacting off pride and ego. So I just let it go and kept it moving, it wasn’t even worth my time.
All in all, I’d say the stay was great, mainly because of the staff and how they treated me. I’d probably book again, but I’d definitely be more aware next time.
