Terrible. Exactly as you’d hope it wouldn’t be. Moldy musty rooms with a wet carpet. The entire thing was noticeably damp. The bed had a hair in it upon pulling down the comforter. The bathroom had mold in it. It’s all recently remodeled and yet it was in a poor state. The shower ran warm but not for long s if you like hot showers, a pool thats open or to sleep in a mold-free room - look elsewhere. The energy of the staff seemed mixed. Some reflecting the hotel’s state, and others reflecting what you’d hope to find. The breakfast was sparse. Pancake machine was off, there were no cinnamon rolls put out (seemed evident that they were never made, and not just eaten by other guests as there weren’t many cars in the lot at our arrival at 11 pm and empty dining space in the morning) There were apples but no other fruit out. Only vanilla yogurt and a single mini bottle of water in the fridge with milk for cereal. The sausage was so desperately dry and overcooked. The kitchen area was clean however. The rooms weren’t dirtier than any other hotel but the lack of proper care at a larger scale was obvious. The fridge in the room didn’t work, but the AC did.

I really love the indoor swimming pool. I used it every day during my stay, and it’s one of the main reasons I chose this hotel. I was in the area visiting relatives, so the location was perfect. The hotel also serves breakfast, which I really enjoyed. I especially liked that they offered fried eggs. It’s not something you see very often—most hotels usually only serve scrambled eggs. Overall, the breakfast was satisfying. I do think the room rate is a little expensive, but despite that, I would definitely stay here again whenever I’m in the area.

We checked in around 3:45 pm on July 4th after being outside all day in the heat. We were in town for the regatta and my girls wanted to cool down and rest before the night time activities. We were greeted by the front desk associate Victoria upon approaching the counter. It was evident that she was less than thrilled to be working and made it clear that she was put off by having to check us in. My seven year old was overly excited to ask if the location had a pancake machine and bacon. Victoria flat out ignored her, which was beside the point so I asked and finally got her an answer about the machine. To which my kiddo quickly responded “ And Bacon too?” She got a nasty “yes we serve breakfast”. I dismissed the situation and redirected my kids to the room letting them know we were only a few doors down from the pool. Upon entering the room it was immediately noticeable how warm and stuffy it was. I scanned the room for the thermostat only to find that it was indeed missing. I made my way over to the unit at the window but was unable to adjust it. I then went back to the front desk to inform them that it was very warm and stuffy in the room, the thermostat was missing and the unit could not be adjusted. Victoria rummaged through a drawer then threw a sign on the desk and followed me back to the room. She claimed that since the unit fan was not set on auto that was why it was not working. The unit then kicked on for a brief moment blowing only warm air, ran for a couple of minutes and kicked off. This went on several times before I approached the desk again. Victoria was quick to dismiss me telling me that’s how it works. I asked if another room was available but was left with no response. I went back to the room and gathered my things and left. My youngest daughter has a medical condition that is greatly affected by a stuffy hot atmosphere. I reached out to hotels.com to see if I could get any assistance from them but the front desk was dismissive with them as well and suggested I reach out. I called from my car and was immediately met with hostility from Victoria, I requested to speak with a manager at which point she hung up on me. I then turned to help via IHG and they were kind enough to take my concern into consideration and file a request to have a manager contact me. I made a final attempt to get assistance from the hotel directly and was again met with hostility via the phone call. So much to the point I was not even comfortable staying there, if the room situation was rectified. We have stayed at this Holiday Inn multiple times during the Regatta weekend and have never once experienced an issue. The lights along the wall of the tv were also not working and the toilet was very loose but we could have easily dealt with that no problem.

I’ve stayed at a lot of Holiday Inn Express properties over the years, and this one really stands out. The hotel is exceptionally clean, the rooms are comfortable and quiet, and the staff is consistently friendly and welcoming.
The breakfast is well stocked and kept fresh, and the location right off I-71 makes it a convenient stop between Louisville and Cincinnati. It’s clear the team takes pride in maintaining the property and making guests feel at home.
Whether you’re traveling for business or just passing through, I’d definitely recommend staying here. Looking forward to my next visit.
