- LPlake peirAug 22, 20261.0I’ve stayed at Candlewood Suites more than once and unfortunately, the experience seems to be the same every time. The rooms have an absolutely awful, stale odor that is hard to describe almost like a combination of dirty feet, body odor and other unpleasant smells. I don’t know whether it’s coming from the carpet, old furniture, poor ventilation, or simply the age of the properties, but the smell makes the entire room feel unclean. What makes it worse is that this hasn’t been limited to just one Candlewood Suites location. I’ve noticed the same type of odor at multiple properties, which makes me question the overall cleanliness and upkeep of the brand. I especially hate when I’m traveling on a busy weekend, other hotels are sold out, and Candlewood Suites is one of the only options left. After a long day of traveling, the last thing I want is to spend hours in a room trying to tolerate a terrible smell and wondering how clean everything actually is. Candlewood Suites is part of IHG, and I expect better standards from an IHG brand. These properties seriously need attention to the carpets, furniture, ventilation, deep cleaning, and overall freshness of the rooms. A hotel room doesn’t have to be luxurious, but it should at least smell clean and feel comfortable. Based on my repeated experiences, Candlewood Suites has consistently failed to meet that basic expectation.
- JWJeff WatzigAug 15, 20263.0It was a decent room, but the tub drain didn't work very good. When taking a shower I was standing in water. Gotta say the bed was very good, and so were the pillows. They had an awesome entertainment area with a pool table and other games.
