Unfortunately, I ended up shortening my reservation and moving to another hotel because of how unwelcoming the overall experience felt. I also emailed the hotel about my concerns but never received a response. The trash was frequently overflowing, and when I had to request service I wouldn’t receive product refills which led me to going to ask for basic essentials for my room. However, my biggest concern was the front desk staff, especially the employee with longer dark hair. Nearly every interaction with her felt rude and unwelcoming, as though I was inconveniencing her simply by asking for assistance or purchasing from the cupboard. There were also multiple times I said hello and received no acknowledgment from numerous staff members. Having worked in hospitality myself, I understand how much a simple greeting and friendly attitude can impact a guest’s experience. Unfortunately, the lack of hospitality was consistent enough that I chose to check out early and stay elsewhere. I hope management takes this feedback as an opportunity to improve the guest experience I appreciate the response back however I tried communicating with management and it was brushed off. Lily also had no personality or customer service etiquette. My coworker also left Candlewood after staying there for an extended job. DO BETTER!

I am beyond disappointed and angry about the way my family and I have been treated during our stay at Candlewood Suites. I made a reservation for an ENTIRE MONTH for THREE people l, myself and two teenage grandsons. The hotel knew exactly how many people would be staying in the room before we ever checked in. Yet when we arrived, we were placed in a room with one bed We were specifically told that two rollaway beds would be provided. That did not happen. We were given ONE. That means one of my of my teenage grandsons has been sleeping in a pull-out chair for an entire week while I am paying for a month-long hotel stay for three people. I find that completely unacceptable. Then we were told that we would be moved into a room with two beds on August 13. I personally checked again on August 12 to make sure everything was still set, and I was told YES, we were still scheduled to move on August 13. August 13 arrived and suddenly I was told the room change would not happen until August 14. No phone call, no text, no message. No apology beforehand. Nothing. I had to go to them to find out that the arrangement THEY made had been changed. At this point, I am not only frustrated, I am offended by the way we have been treated. I have been respectful and patient with the staff throughout this entire situation, even while watching one of my grandsons sleep in a chair night after night. I hate to even have to say this, but after everything that has happened, I cannot help but question whether my family and I would have been treated this way if we were not Black. I do not make that statement lightly. When you repeatedly have to ask for basic accommodations that were promised to you, receive poor communication, and watch commitments get pushed back while you continue paying for your stay, it leaves you wondering why your concerns are not being taken seriously. I did not ask for special treatment. I asked for appropriate sleeping arrangements for the THREE PEOPLE listed on my reservation. A teenage child sleeping in a chair for a week should have been enough for someone in management to say, "We need to fix this." Instead, I have been expected to keep waiting, keep asking questions, and keep accepting whatever date I am given next. This has been one of the most disappointing hotel experiences I have ever had. Being a long-term guest should not mean that I have to beg for something as basic as a proper place for everyone on my reservation to sleep. Candlewood Suites needs to do better. UPDATE-August 14 I wanted to update my review because I believe in giving credit when someone makes an effort to make things right. After speaking with the General Manager, Sean Stelk, today, I feel much better about how the situation was handled. Mr. Stelk was very kind, respectful, and apologetic about everything that had happened. He took the time to listen to my concerns and made sure that my family and I were moved into a room with two beds. I truly appreciated the way he spoke with me and the fact that he took my concerns seriously. After everything that happened, it meant a lot to feel heard and to see that he was willing to step in and make things right. I still wish the situation had been handled differently from the beginning, but I definitely want to give Mr. Steak credit for the way he handled everything once he became involved. His response made a big difference in how I feel about the rest of my stay.
