  We stayed June 23 and the front desk was backed up for check in at about 6pm, waited about 20 minutes for 4 people ahead of us. One person walked out. The elevator was out of service. Only one coffee machine worked. Breakfast was blah. Pancake machine didn't work.

  The hotel is the best option in Martinsville. The room was clean and comfortable. The bathroom was great, with a great shower. Basically we needed a quiet place to rest and it did it's job. The staff was a woman in a t-shirt not identified with anything Holiday Inn Express. She did her job well, but could have used help. Our check-in process took 30 minutes due to several customers. We did need to switch rooms during our stay due to noise above us and they took care of us quickly. The overall condition of the property needed some updating. Not bad, but not new. Breakfast on the weekend does not start until 7, so if you are an early riser, make alternate plans. All in all an average place to stay.

  We wanted to like the location but unfortunately many of the services were simply broken. With a few fellow family members, they refused to accommodate some requests on the floors requested due to disabilities and what made it worse was the elevator was out of service multiple times. That coupled with other issues. The pancake maker was broken, towels were all out or unable to be accessed and the keys kept not working even with careful avoidance of anything magnetic. The staff was helpful and apologized for the issues but the issues seemed more building management vs staff. When traveling, pick another hotel.

  We stopped here on the way down to see a relative. The hotel clerk reminded us upon checking in that quiet hour is from 9am to 9pm. Also, Martinsville rolls up the sidewalks at 9pm so if you get there late plan to eat out of a vending machine. Don't forget to be quiet while you do it.

  I would like to acknowledge Anthony the gm for exceptional service and for being so helpful with information on the area. He treated us like family and it was so refreshing to be helped by such a competent and caring person. Nice to be around qualified people! Thank you.
