I would stay at this location again. The rooms were very clean and recently updated. The beds were comfortable but the pillows were absolutely terrible so you will need your own or at least be prepared. It was quiet when we were there but there were not too many guests either. The location is close to both state and national parks and there are plenty of eateries close by. The website lists a hot tub and spa. Neither of these exist at this location. There is also no elevator either so be prepared to take your belongings up stairs the old fashion way!. Many of the doors that would lead to other “areas” like outside are locked and some of the grounds areas need some work like around the lake. The breakfast foods tasted great. Food choices were limited so the line for the single waffle maker was too long to wait for. This was a simple hotel without bells and whistles but if you’re just looking for a place to sleep, I would recommend it. It’s not much to look at but location and cleanliness was great.

The room is clean and the view is nice. They have good breakfast. My sister left her wallet(with a big amount of cash) by mistake and the housekeeper was honest to return the wallet back. The manager was so helpful also shipping back the wallet. When we got the wallet it had everything without nothing taken. Thank you so much for your honesty and being helpful.❤️
We chose this hotel because of its location to Chesterton and the Dunes NP, Chesterton has a lovely downtown quaint area. My son had recommended this hotel because of all the rooms overlooking the lake, which this aspect is very nice. We were very disappointed in the cleanliness of this room upon arrival, the Kleenex dispensers, bath gel and shampoo were all empty. It was late so we did not ask anybody until the next day and housekeeping did fill them. The sliding shower door would not stay closed, I had to lean over and place to wash cloths at one side of the door to keep it closed, and when I did that, I noticed that the shower area between the two doors where they overlap when sliding was very dirty and moldy looking. The rooms aren’t clean and somebody’s not paying attention. My husband told a woman at the front desk the next morning, and she was very apologetic. Like I said, housekeeping, came to our room and filled the dispensers and everything but honestly, if I had had a customer complain about a room with this obvious lack of attention to it I would have had housekeeping spiff and tidy the room up a little bit more to try and make the customer happy. I loved the town of Chesterton, but I would not stay here again.

I honestly have no idea how this place has 4 stars. At this point, I’m convinced some of the reviews were written by people whose last hotel experience was sleeping in a lawn shed.
The rooms look clean from a distance, but that’s part of the magic trick. Once you actually spend time in them, you start noticing the mildew smell in the carpet and the overall feeling that housekeeping and maintenance may have quietly broken up years ago.
The real adventure begins when you check the ice situation. There was visible mold inside the ice bucket, and mold all over the ice machine. After seeing that, I decided dehydration was the safer option because I didn’t want to imagine what the inside of the machine looked like.
The only reason this review isn’t completely negative is because the front desk attendant was fantastic—friendly, professional, and genuinely helpful. Unfortunately, great customer service can only do so much when you’re fighting a losing battle against mold.
If you’re looking for a hotel, I’d recommend bringing low expectations, a flashlight, and perhaps a hazmat suit. If you’re looking for a great front desk employee, they’ve got one of those.
