This hotel is in really bad shape and in need of a full renovation. Everything feels and looks dirty. The rooms are very dated. We had to ask to change rooms when we first got there because the first room that we were in had a leak in the bathroom and the carpets were wet. Second room was better but the same dated and poorly maintained look and feel was there. Staff was friendly and accommodating. Location is good for visiting IU/Bloomington but the value for the money is not there considering how dingy the hotel feels.

Terrible from the start. Unlit hallway to get to our room...hard to see...like being in a dimly lit tunnel. Television wouldn't work..called desk and they sent you kid to our room who kept radioing someone..I suspect Hotel Management about TV having no signal and being told to do this..do that and wait 10minutes and try again. Crazy...we were tired from long day and now this with TV. TV worked on and off but was unable to watch anything more that 20 minutes...very frustrating. Next morning went to get coffee and was rudely greeting by a nasty lady asking me what room I was in...I just wanted coffee but she said breakfast isnt free with your room. Didn't ever run into this before so I went up to desk to checkout and asked for the manager. When he came out I started to tell him of my problems with his hotel...he said something which I didn't understand..spoke very broken English and definitely not a representative of HIE I've ever dealt with. Told him about dim hallway and TV and rude lady by the eating area...he kept saying something to the desk clerk but I have no idea what. He showed no sign of concern for my problems and I just checked out. Will never stay at this property again!!! ..

To start off, I have a service dog and the young lady was not taught the rules of service dogs. Then we get to the room and the TV doesn't work but we were so tired and we had already got everything out we did not want to move rooms. Then the next morning for breakfast we could not eat because it was not included with the room purchase.

Our stay was extremely frightening and handled very poorly. At approximately 11:15 p.m., while my daughter and I were in bed, another guest used a hotel key card to unlock our occupied room, open the door, and step inside. Thankfully, they left, but we were terrified. I immediately tried calling the front desk, but the phone in our room did not work. When I finally reached the staff using another phone, both employees were dismissive and repeatedly called this serious security failure a “glitch.” One employee even hung up while I was distraught and unsure whether I needed to call the police. Management later focused on whether I saw the person’s face and exactly how far they entered the room. Those details do not change the central issue: another guest’s key card successfully unlocked our occupied room. A hotel has a basic responsibility to protect its guests. My daughter and I did not feel safe, and the staff’s dismissive response made an already frightening experience worse. I requested a full refund and a complimentary future night because I must return to the area to visit the school. I am still waiting for this matter to be properly resolved.
