Very disappointing experience at the Best Western in Batesville, Indiana.
My wife, our two year old, and I were on the property for about two hours total before checking out around 7:55 p.m.
The front desk clerk was rude from the start and seemed annoyed that we had booked online. We had reserved a king room but were told we could not stay in it with our two year old and had to switch to a double queen room for an additional charge.
When we got to Room 225, it was filthy. There was hair throughout the bathroom, the shower was dirty, the HVAC unit was covered in dust, debris, and hair, the floors were dirty, there was plastic and tag debris in the carpet, and one of the beds had stained sheets. We took pictures of everything.
We were traveling with our two year old and did not feel comfortable staying in a room that clearly had not been properly cleaned.
We checked out after being there for only about two hours. The hotel refunded two nights but still charged us for one night.
My parents also had a reservation and were supposed to check in the next day. After seeing the condition of our room, there was no way my mother, who has significant medical issues, could stay there. We contacted the hotel about 19 hours before their scheduled check in and were told they would still be charged for one night as a no show.
That makes no sense. They were told well before check in that they would not be coming.
Between the rude treatment, the condition of the room, and the way the refunds were handled, this was one of the worst hotel experiences we have had. We will not stay at this property again or any best western for that matter.
We are here for a wedding so we have several rooms. In my room the toilet will not flush. Front desk asked if it was clogged in a accusing way. I said, no, we just arrived. My mother went pee if you must know, and it will not flush. They don't have maintenance on site. He said in a hostile tone, all I would be able to do for you is move you to a new room. At this point I know I was no longer polite and said, well we will need a toilet during our stay. The new room was not very clean. I went to the Kroger next door for cleaning wipes and we cleaned the room. In the room next door; the door does not open completely. There is a light in that entryway and the top of the door gets stuck on the light so the door won't actually even open halfway for you to be able to enter the room. There are no closets. The wardrobe is for pants or shirts, not for the long dresses we brought for our wedding. When three hangers were placed on it, the bar fell down. The bathroom has long hair and little short hairs. You get my drift. In my new room, the wardrobe right side door opens. The left side door only opens part of the way, dragging on the ground. And this mini fridge in this room is not a thigh-high fridge. It's a knee-high fridge maybe. So it's a crap shoot what will be in your room. There were gift bags for arriving guests. They had delicious homemade cookies my aunt made and presented nicely in cute boxes. Only the first few guests got those because the hotel has ants which descended on the bags and into the cookie boxes. They all had to be thrown out. The front desk clerk working Friday night, 7/24, does not like his job and does not want to be there. He was rude and showed no hospitality.

Always stay here when I'm in town visiting family. Friendly, clean, quiet. Can walk to Kroger and a few restaurants
