My experience at this hotel was highly frustrating, entirely due to the unacceptable behavior of the older gentleman working the front desk. I arrived around 2:15 PM and asked him for an early check-in. He claimed that no rooms were available yet and told me to wait in the lobby. However, as I sat there, I watched him check in two other parties right in front of me while continuing to tell me my room wasn't ready.
Frustrated by the inconsistent treatment, I left to get some lunch. When I returned around 3:00 PM, a young lady had joined him at the desk, and a long line had formed. When I asked the gentleman if I could finally check in, he completely brushed me off, refused to help, and told me the lady would assist me instead.
I had to wait in her line for 5 to 10 minutes, but once it was my turn, she completely turned the experience around. The young lady was absolutely wonderful incredibly helpful, genuinely warm, and welcoming. She handled the heavy rush with absolute grace, treated me with the utmost respect, and got me checked in quickly and efficiently. Her professional and friendly attitude was easily the best part of my day, and she is a massive asset to this hotel.
As soon as she took over, the gentleman completely vanished from the desk. I tried to get his name, but he disappeared too quickly. His attitude was entirely inhospitable and arrogant, acting as if he owned the property rather than trying to help a guest. While the young lady provided fantastic, top-tier service, the terrible handling and rude attitude of the gentleman ruined the overall experience, and I will not be returning.
While my family and I usually loyal Holiday Inn guests, our recent stay at this location was incredibly disappointing.
The issues began at check-in. The receptionist completely ignored us, making eye contact and then turning away to continue a conversation with a coworker until I explicitly stated we were there to check in. Given that we booked two rooms for a multi-day stay, we expected much better service especially because booking 2 rooms isn't cheap.
The cleanliness of the rooms was unacceptable. All four beds across both rooms had hair (eyelash length to medium length) on and underneath the sheets. When we asked the front desk if housekeeping could change the bedding while we went out for dinner, we were told we had to do it ourselves. Additionally, both bathrooms were filthy, with hair in the showers and visible pink grime along the bottom of the tubs, indicating they were merely rinsed rather than scrubbed. To make matters worse, the street-facing rooms were extremely noisy, even late into the night.
Due to the poor service and lack of basic hygiene, we will not be returning to this location.
Great place for the occasion. We returned to Chicago for a visit but didn't want to be far away from Jefferson Park blue line and close to grocery stores. This place has it all, parking lot, breakfast and the swimming pool is closed early 9. Sad!
We enjoyed the hospitality of these delightful people twice during our stay in the USA, spending several nights there on each occasion. The hotel is run by a wonderfully personable manager who makes a point of connecting with guests and is always there for everyone. The room is pleasantly designed, everything works, and housekeeping is very reliable. The breakfast spread is extensive and neatly presented. It is very quiet inside the building at night. The mix of guests certainly played a major role in making our stay so pleasant. It is no wonder this hotel is fully booked every day! If we ever return to the East Coast, we would love to stay at this hotel in Chicago again.
We stayed here during our Chicago trip, and honestly, it was a 10/10 experience for our family ❤️
Our room had two queen beds, a pull-out couch, and they even provided a crib for my baby
. From the moment we arrived, the hospitality was amazing. Everyone was so kind and attentive, and we really felt taken care of.
The rooms were clean, spacious, and comfortable. One thing I really appreciated was the bathroom setup. They had Dove shampoo, conditioner, and body wash already available, plus hand soap and body lotion. As a mom, I notice little things like that because kids are basically tiny germ magnets 😅 and so many hotels don’t even provide hand soap.
We also had a tub, which was perfect for the little ones after a long day out.
Breakfast was great, and the pool was a huge hit with the kids. It was only about 3–4 feet deep, and the staff even warmed it up a little for the younger children, which was such a thoughtful touch.
It’s a little outside of downtown Chicago, but for families looking for a quieter, safe area, it was absolutely worth it. Check-in was at 3 PM and checkout wasn’t until noon, which made traveling with kids so much easier.
If we’re ever back in Chicago, we’d stay here again without hesitation. ❤️
