Visiting the Trail of Hope was a sobering experience. The memorial does an excellent job of sharing the stories of the Saints who were forced to leave Nauvoo in the early spring, making their hardships feel much more real.
Standing on the banks of the Mississippi, it was hard to imagine crossing such a wide river on ice while wondering if it would hold beneath you. The experience gave me a deeper appreciation for the faith, courage, and sacrifice of those who made that journey.

A great place to see the river. The other day a barge was going to dock nearby, there are some pretty spectacular sunsets also.
Right now there is a eagles nest nearby. The male came the other night with a fish and they both ate it. Then the male flew out to a log and drank from the river for about 10 min.

Beautiful statue, memorial, and flag tribute near the end of Parley Street and the Trail of Hope. Gorgeous view of the Mississippi River and home of an Eagle's nest this spring.
