  I stayed at the Under The Sea room yesterday. As an avid enthusiast for fantasy suites, I am genuinely grateful that this place houses several within a drive from Chicago! The price was steep. Shower only worked halfway. Some lights didn’t work. Dead bugs stuck between light fixture, barely hanging on over the bed. Room concept is cute! Front desk staff were delightful! But here is my primary concern : The fish tank. Its condition is foul and inhumane. I am not against the concept itself of a live fish tank being in a hotel room, but this was a devastating sight. It looks like it has not been maintained in a very long time. Several fish carcasses (they look like they’ve been there for some time, and other fish have been eating off of them sadly), live fish stuck between electrical cords that have fallen into the tank, considerable mounds of fish feces piled up. The water was a dark yellow color, and really depressing to have to look at. Please, please, please consider either swapping the live fish for motorized / toy fish. Even just an empty, clean tank with bubbles and decor would be a much better sight. I understand that it is probably very difficult to maintain a tank with live fish considering that maintenance is probably done through the ceiling. Please consider an alternative to live fish. This made me so sad and honestly sick to my stomach to see in its current cruel condition. Overall, thank you for still offering fantasy suites! Please do consider making changes to the fish tank. It’s doing far more harm than good, especially to the eye and to the fish, in its current condition.

  The room was large and comfortable. Breakfast was good. It was a little pricey, but overall very nice.

  Was a great little place to stay, unfortunately the staff will prevent us from returning. The worst thing was two hours before checkout, housekeeping let themselves into our room without knocking while we were naked. There was no DND sign for the door in the room or chain lock for the door. 1 of 2 key cards didn't work. Lights burnt out in the room so it was dark. Last but not least, the continental breakfast was advertised to go til 9, we got there 10 minutes before 9, but the staff had already closed everything down, despite the eating area still being full of people. One couple asked where all the food was and they were given attitude by the front desk employee simply because they should've gotten there earlier? How much earlier do you need? If it closes at 8:30, then change the advertising. Because the continental breakfast is part of what we paid for and it's advertised to go until 9, and it didn't. I grabbed a glass of OJ but it was more watered down than the vodka at your local dive bar. This was memorial day weekend, it was obvious they hadn't planned for the guests they were supposed to have. If you can't accommodate your guests, don't take their reservation. Hopefully these things are addressed otherwise I can't see this place lasting long.

  I stayed here for one night, I booked a queen bed room (which I always do) , when the night came and went to bed, me and my husband couldn’t even turn , it felt smaller that a queen, we have a queen size at home and we always get rooms with a queen size , so we know that we fit in a queen size perfectly… the bed was smaller than a queen it was probably a full size mattress … so they need to update the sizes on their mattresses cuz we couldn’t sleep, other than that my room was very clean and it was a perfect location , close to all the tourist activities

  I can see a serious lack of mangment here. We came here for a theme room and the 1st one was unacceptable. The 2nd was much better. The basement floors parking lot has several holes in it. The ceiling tiles are falling in. The vending machine has 2 items in it. If you don't want to fill it remove it. The dehumidifier tank was full the entire 2 night stay and no one emptied it. Lights out in the room. Paint peeling on the ceiling. Outside there is a ladder in plain sight, trash in the planters. The breakfast was about empty 30 min before it ended. The table outside has a broken leg and was propped up to stay up. Throw it away and get a new one. This hotel has the potential to be great the theme rooms are really cool. Need a manager to walk to property and tell they employees to put the ladder away. Pick up the trash. Empty the dehumidifiers. Restock the breakfast. It wouldn't be hard to bring a maint guy in and caulk the trim, replace the light bulbs, having a cleaning lady deep clean the shower ect. I couldn't stop looking at the ceiling tiles in the hallway just sagging down. Spend 1,000 per room and I could give it 5 stars all day. It's evident by the employees that they aren't the problem it's a manger issue
