Obviously the views are fantastic, but the staff need to make sure other guests are behaving. Unfortunately, many people were just sitting on the windowsills looking at their phones. It has difficult to approach the windows. Also, when in the sky-deck portion the group we had to share a window with did not understand that we had to share. It was frustrating that I had to waste a portion of my 90 seconds explaining to the group that they had to share and let us on. After waiting in line for 30 minutes was a bummer for my kids that we had trouble getting on the sky deck and the staff just walked away. If you want to make sure you hit the tallest building in Chicago, go for it. But if you are looking for views, there might be some better options.

Willis tower was once the tallest building in the world for 25 years. Top level observation floor is all windows including the ledge. The ledge are large all glass sections that portude out of the building walls. Dare to step into one of these. The sensation is incredible. The ride on the elevator is so fast you can feel your ears pop on the way up. I say that it is worth the money for all there is to experience if you have never been up on the observation deck. Plenty of views to go around to take all the photos you want. The fact is the Willis tower is so tall, the other buildings look short looking down on them. There is an unobstructed view all around. Highly recommend everyone go and see. Experience it even if just once in a life time. Make it one of your life buckets.

Our visit to Skydeck Chicago far surpassed our expectations. As we walked toward the Willis Tower, a staff member recognized the "confused tourist look" and directed us to the entrance. From there it was easy to find our way (down two escalators) to the entrance. The Chicago CityPASS is a must if you'll be visiting 3 or more participating attractions (we used all 5) due to the dramatic cost savings. The CityPASS also provides Expedited Entry to Skydeck Chicago, which not only got us on the elevator (which is faster yet smoother than the average office building elevator) before everyone else, but more importantly, got us onto the Ledge faster by skipping the line of numerous other groups. Skydeck Chicago isn't just a limited observation area, but the entire 103rd floor providing a full 360 view of downtown Chicago and Lake Michigan through the huge windows. There's plenty of elbow room and no need to rush. It also has its own gift shop. Standing on The Ledge is an awesome experience, and its uniqueness makes the photo well worth the money. Plus you get a brief time to take your own pictures on The Ledge. From being welcomed in from the sidewalk through the entire experience, all the staff members were super helpful and friendly. Don't leave Chicago without visiting Skydeck Chicago.

This was my first time visiting Chicago, and I have absolutely loved the city. The people have been incredibly friendly, the food has been fantastic, and the architecture, attractions, and tours have all exceeded my expectations. Unfortunately, the Skydeck is the one experience I would not recommend as one of Chicago's highlights. The ticket purchasing process was smooth and straightforward, both online and in person. However, the experience starts on the wrong foot because you're essentially pressured into taking a photo, even after clearly stating that you don't want one. It feels unnecessary and overly commercial. The elevator video and many of the digital displays also feel outdated. For the price of admission, I expected a much more modern and immersive experience. When you finally reach the observation level, the first thing you see is the souvenir shop before you've even had the chance to enjoy the view. Again, it makes the experience feel more focused on selling than on creating a memorable visit. The staff at the observation deck was another disappointment. They seemed poorly trained, unenthusiastic, and not particularly welcoming. Some even came across as rude, especially the employees managing the line for photos at The Ledge. From the moment I joined the queue, they didn't seem friendly or interested in making visitors feel welcome, which took away from what should have been one of the highlights of the visit. The views of Chicago are undeniably beautiful, but beautiful views alone don't justify the price. The observation deck is only one floor, and the overall experience feels very limited for what you pay. I've visited observation decks in other cities around the world—many of them in places that are even more expensive overall—and they offered a much better experience in terms of service, presentation, technology, and overall value. If you're visiting Chicago on a budget or simply want the best value for your money, I would honestly recommend skipping the Skydeck and spending that money at one of the city's excellent rooftop bars or restaurants instead. You'll still enjoy incredible views of the skyline while having a much better overall experience. Chicago itself is an amazing city, but in my opinion, the Skydeck is simply overpriced and doesn't live up to the expectations or the cost.
