  Room was musty, floor was wet. Couldn't wait to check out. Front desk staff wasn't very friendly. Was tucked behind a closed down business parking lot that is in dire need of repairs.

  I stay at this Best Western semi regularly when I visit Kewanee, IL for multiple days. In my opinion, it is the best option if you want to be close AND comfortable. The rooms are very spacious and the lobby of the hotel typically always smells really great. Additionally, the staff are beyond kind and helpful. There isn’t a lot to offer in the way of restaurants besides Subway and Mick’s (have not been there). But the Neponset Oasis is a nice little bar that has amazing food and is within a 20 min drive. There are also your typical fast food staples and a Walmart in Kewanee. The hotel also serves breakfast. I’m typically up and out early so I’ve never had it. I highly recommend this Best Western if you need accommodations in the area. It isn’t a brand new hotel, but the owners have maintained it very well and it is always quiet.

  Today I arrived at this hotel and spoke with the employee at the front desk. She told me her name was Christine. Later in the conversation, she said that she was the only employee on duty, and when I asked to speak with the manager, she told me that she was the manager. Our conversation began with her speaking to me in a very rude tone, telling me that I had to put the phone back. I had picked up the guest phone at the front desk because there was no one there, and I was trying to get someone's attention. I asked her why she was speaking to me so rudely and whether she could call the manager. She replied that she was the manager. I then asked again why she was being so rude to me. She responded that if I didn't like it, I could go stay somewhere else. She also told me that this was her private property and that she did not want me there.

  When we arrived no one was at the front desk. We had to keep yelling "hello, hello" until someone finally arrived. The room was nasty. Hair in the shower, ants on the desk and nightstands, dirty socks from a previous guest and room smelled bad. Breakfast was disgusting. This property should be shut down for the condition it's in. It certainly wasn't worth $140 for 1 night. Upon checkout no one was at the desk...again yelled "hello, hello" but no one showed up. It was a ghost town. Also to mention, we arrived at night, the hotel is off the highway but no true road to get to it. Their sign at the main entrance didn't work/didn't light up so if you didn't know exactly where to go, you wouldn't see it. Thank goodness for GPS. The owners obviously don't care about the property or the guests who stay there. This was a terrible experience, not even worth 1 star.

  I was extremely disappointed with this hotel. Although the service was prompt and friendly the front desk person said the room number out loud which I did not like due to safety reasons and they appeared quite inebriated. The smell of alcohol was overwhelming and they had clearly been over consuming while on the job. That is unacceptable for me. The rooms were clean,but very old and worn out. They had a lot of smells because of the age. There were some old stains on the bedding as well. The chair was badly stained and looked like it had not been cleaned since new. It was crusty like an old bus seat. The beds were incredibly hard. You could tell that they had tried to remedy that with foam pieces,but they didn't really do much. The heater had issues all night. It couldn't maintain an even temperature. It would get extremely hot,then cold and so on. Breakfast was terrible overall. The one thing I did really really enjoy at breakfast was the salsa. I'm not sure if it was homemade or not,but that was delicious. I'd buy that in a jar of they offered it. The rest of the food was pretty inedible. Parking is excellent. Plenty of space and easy to get into. Overall the experience was bad and I don't intend to ever come back. It's not worth it for the good parking and some salsa. Especially not when it's the highest price point in the area. PS if you do stay here the shower takes about 10 minutes to start running warm water. It never gets very warm,but it does get warmer if given enough time. The sink is slightly quicker but not by much.
