  I recently stayed at the Holiday Inn in Alton, Illinois while bringing my 83-year-old mother back to visit the area where she grew up. Because of her mobility limitations, I specifically reserved an accessible room with two queen beds. Our trip began with a delay due to severe storms, and when we finally arrived and attempted to access Room 408, the key fob would not work. I had already brought our luggage upstairs and then had to carry it back down to the front desk. Staff informed me that they were aware of ongoing key fob issues with this room and that they would need to physically come upstairs to let us in. While the issue was eventually resolved, it was frustrating to learn that a known problem had not been fixed. My second concern was the accessibility of the bathroom. Based on the information and photos online, I expected a walk-in shower. Instead, the room had a bathtub with grab bars. For my 83-year-old mother, stepping into a bathtub presented a significant fall risk and was not what I consider truly accessible. The staff offered us a different room the following day, but it also had a bathtub. On my last day, I was informed that the hotel's only walk-in shower rooms are associated with king-bed rooms, a limitation that was not clearly stated when I made my reservation for two queen beds. My final disappointment was housekeeping service. During my stay, our room was cleaned only once, on June 13, and only after I specifically requested daily housekeeping at the front desk. Despite reminding staff each day afterward, the room was not cleaned again for the remainder of our visit. I was also disappointed that my stay was not connected to my IHG Rewards account, despite providing my membership information to the front desk. As a loyal customer, I expected the stay to be properly linked so I would receive the appropriate credit and benefits. Having to follow up on this after checkout added to my overall frustration with the experience. Overall, I was very disappointed with this location. The accessibility accommodations did not meet expectations, a known room issue had not been resolved, housekeeping service was inconsistent, and my IHG Rewards information was not properly processed. Unfortunately, this stay did not provide the level of comfort, accessibility, and service I expected from a Holiday Inn.

  Oh boy… I have a lot to say. I have been staying at this hotel for a couple weeks on business. Worst hotel experience of my life. Final straw to make me write a review- there are about 20 ants crawling on my bathroom floor right now. First room I stayed in, found an ant in my bed, TV didn’t work, stains all over the bathroom wall. Between the 4 rooms I’ve stayed in so far, I’ve seen broken shelves in the showers, screws falling out of nowhere, stains on the carpet, pee on the toilet, unmopped bathroom floor (in every room). The pancake maker is broken every single morning but the staff won’t tell you and I’ve heard them lie about it “oh it’s just acting up today”. Juice and water machine has also been down the entire time I’ve been here.. they finally put out pitchers with drinks so that’s something. Walked down to the pool one of the first days I was here, opened the first door labeled “pool”, walked down a hallway and then saw the one sign saying the pool is closed (not even built by the way). Elevators were down one week and I had to carry my luggage down 4 flights of stairs. I have been charged with a 20 dollar amenity fee every week I’ve stayed here even tho my room was prepaid for by my company- I was never made aware of this fee on check in. Walls are very thin and you can hear anything happening in the halls/parking lot. The staff is very nice but this place needs better housekeeping practices. Dirty, poorly constructed, lack of communication. I’ve had a lot of frustration staying here. Please do better, people pay way too much money to stay here for a dirty room and rock solid bagels.

  I like the hotel, but beware you will be charged and billed a separate $5 charge per night for maintenance/upkeep they said when calling I called asking about the charge. Sounds shady. It’s a brand new hotel. This was never mentioned anywhere.

  We’ve stayed at this Holiday Inn Express twice and will always come back to it if we’re in the Alton area. The hotel and rooms are nice and clean. The breakfast is good. The staff are all friendly and professional. The hotel is conveniently located near shops and restaurants. I highly recommend this hotel if you’re in the Alton area.

  Nice newer hotel. Comfortable beds and clean rooms. Breakfast was great and loved that you can get coffee & tea anytime of day! Came to stay for my nieces wedding. We will defiantly stay next vist!
