Absolutely terrible experience at this hotel.
I travel for work and average about 100 nights a year in hotels all across the country, primarily Best Westerns, where I am a Diamond Elite member. This will be my first ever review, and I’ve had to edit it for length, as Google reviews won’t allow enough space to elaborate on the extent of the poor service here.
I checked into the Foothills Inn at midday on Thursday for what was meant to be a 9 night stay for $2200. At check-in I was told that they service and clean rooms daily, I explained that I did not need or want that and to not worry about servicing my room during my stay. The front desk attendant, Debbie, said they must enter and clean my room, and quickly rattled off some dates they would schedule cleaning for, without actually confirming if those dates were okay with me or confirming acceptable times.
On Saturday morning at 9:30am, on my only day off for the week, and my only opportunity to rest and catch up on sleep after a long week of grueling fieldwork, Debbie sent her minions to pester me despite my clear requests for privacy. After less than 48 hours checked into the hotel, the cleaning team decided to ignore my clearly displayed “Privacy Please” sign and bang on my door repeatedly, then open my locked room and attempt to enter without my consent, while I was sound asleep in the nude. Waking in a fright at the disturbance, I quickly dressed and answered the fortunately dead bolted door. I pointed to the “Privacy Please” sign and asked why they were here, as I had requested minimal service at check in. The cleaner just shrugged and looked at her clipboard saying the clean was scheduled, I told her that I had specifically requested not to have my room cleaned and explained it was unnecessary as I had just arrived at the hotel. They then shrugged gave a weak apology and left. At that point I attempted to go back to sleep with no success, as the ordeal had disturbed and upset me. Realizing rest was no longer an option, I decided to go ahead and catch the breakfast service that would end at 11am. This of course required a trip to the front desk to get a breakfast voucher. At the front desk, I politely asked for a voucher, while Debbie proceeded to very aggressively and hostilely tell me when they planned to clean the room. I explained again that I didn’t want it and that I didn’t appreciate them ignoring my “Privacy Please” sign and could I please have my breakfast voucher. Debbie continued to raise her voice at me and say I had no choice in the matter and they would come clean regardless of my requests for privacy. In my groggy and agitated state I said I did not want to argue with her and was not able to discuss what times would be acceptable at that time, and could I please just have my breakfast voucher. Meanwhile, Debbie loudly assured me she wasn’t arguing and continued to rattle off dates and withhold my breakfast voucher. After a few minutes of this berating and me explaining that I worked long hours and didn’t want to be disturbed in the mornings and could I please just have my breakfast voucher and discuss this later, Debbie finally gave me the voucher with a healthy dose of spite.
Throughout breakfast I remained distraught and upset and finally decided to just check out and find somewhere else to stay rather than to remain in the tense environment created by the hotel, as the staff had made it clear they do not respect or care about their guests or their comfort, and must view them as filthy animals that require constant monitoring in the form of hyper frequent room checks. Like, y’all have my ID and credit card, if there is excessive mess or damage to a room, you have the means to rectify that if necessary, without treating your guests with hostility during their stay. Every other hotel in the nation understands this and operates accordingly, however the Best Western Foothills Inn has no respect for their guests and would would prefer to berate and degrade them than provide a nice experience.
