Review We had such a great experience at The Grove Hotel! The customer service was excellent, and everyone was so welcoming and helpful. A special shoutout to Gabriella at the welcome desk. She was incredibly kind, friendly, and went above and beyond. We really appreciated her! We can’t wait to visit Boise and stay here next time.

The Grove Hotel is perfectly located, the rooms are spacious and comfortable and the hospitality is superb! Sean went above and beyond to ensure we had all that we needed in our room and he gave us great suggestions for restaurants and places to see during our visit. I highly recommend staying here if you visit Boise.

We stayed in a suite for three nights with our 7-month-old while visiting family, and unfortunately, the experience was incredibly disappointing—especially given what we paid for our stay. From the moment we arrived, the service felt lacking. We weren’t acknowledged when we walked in, and the front desk staff came across as rude, unprofessional, and completely uninterested in providing any kind of hospitality. The staff appeared very young and inexperienced, and there seemed to be little understanding of the level of service you would expect from a hotel at this price point. To make matters worse, when we got to our room, it clearly had not been fully prepared for our arrival. Pillowcases were missing from the bed, which is a pretty basic detail and immediately added to the feeling that there was very little attention to the guest experience. I do want to mention Sean, who was a notable exception to the service we experienced. When we let him know about the bed, he was genuinely kind and helpful, took care of the issue, and even brought us a bottle of wine. We really appreciated his hospitality. The room itself was nice and recently renovated, but we quickly discovered that our suite was located directly below the gym. Starting around 6 a.m. every morning, we were startled awake by the sound of weights crashing above our heads. One morning, someone must have been using a treadmill or elliptical because the room was vibrating so much that I genuinely thought we were having an earthquake. Traveling with a 7-month-old already makes sleep challenging, so paying a significant amount for what we thought would be a comfortable, relaxing place for our family only to be woken up this way every morning was extremely frustrating. After three nights of very little rest, I decided to book a massage on our final day in hopes of getting at least some relaxation out of the stay. Unfortunately, it ended up being one of the worst massages I’ve ever had. The massage therapist used what seemed to be scented body lotion rather than massage oil, creating so much friction that I was left with visible irritation/burn marks on my skin afterward. I asked for lighter pressure, but my request wasn’t followed, and at one point I seriously considered asking to end the massage early because it was so painful. When I turned onto my back for the second half, there wasn’t even an eye mask offered, so I was lying there with the overhead lights shining directly into my eyes. Between the unprofessional welcome, arriving to a room that wasn’t fully prepared, being woken by the gym every morning, and an extremely uncomfortable spa experience that left visible marks on my skin, this stay fell far below what I would expect from a hotel charging these rates. We chose this hotel and paid a premium because we wanted a comfortable place to stay with our baby while visiting family, and instead left feeling exhausted and disappointed. I would have expected much better attention to both guest experience and basic hospitality.

I am writing this review to document a deeply disappointing and uncomfortable stay at The Grove Hotel. My wife booked a room for a short birthday staycation. From the moment we entered the room, it was clear the space was not properly sealed. Wildfire smoke continuously entered throughout the night, making the air quality poor and causing her significant breathing difficulty. We were unable to get any meaningful rest as a result. The bed itself was in very poor condition—excessively soft and heavily indented on both sides. Combined with the smoke infiltration, we managed only about two hours of sleep. We remained awake for the rest of the night and ultimately checked out at 4:00 a.m. When we left, the receptionist treated my wife in a rude and unprofessional manner, compounding an already miserable experience. For the price and the reputation this property claims, the room conditions and staff interaction were unacceptable. We expected a clean, properly maintained room with basic comfort and respectful service. Instead, we left exhausted, frustrated, and with no intention of returning. I would strongly advise potential guests to consider other options in Boise.

I was really disappointed with my experience at The Grove Hotel. The hotel itself is beautiful and lives up to its reputation aesthetically, but unfortunately the customer service does not. When we arrived, the woman who checked us in seemed visibly irritated. Everyone has bad days, so I didn’t think much of it at first. Later, when my brother checked in, he received a $5 food coupon. I went back to the front desk and simply said to the employee, Jacob, “Hey, my brother got a $5 coupon for food when we checked in…” Before I could even finish my sentence, he looked me in the face and replied, “Okay… that’s cool.” The interaction came across as incredibly dismissive and disrespectful. Whether the answer was yes or no wasn’t the issue—it was the way I was spoken to. Hospitality is the foundation of the hotel industry, and I did not feel welcomed or valued as a guest. While the hotel itself is very nice, the staff’s attitudes completely overshadowed the experience. I would honestly rather stay at a less luxurious hotel where the employees treat guests with kindness and respect. Based on the service alone, I would not choose to stay here again.
