An absolutely gorgeous resort with superb, friendly, and consistently thoughtful service that made our anniversary return with family a joy. While the ocean views are beautiful, take the time to wander the extensive grounds — the gardens and koi pools are the real stars in my mind.

The four seasons Lanai was one of the best hotels I have ever stayed at. The hotel itself is beautiful, but the service is what made the experience amazing. We ended up extending our trip because we didn’t want to leave. Everyone is so helpful and goes out of their way to make sure your trip is the best it can be. The food was delicious. We will definitely be back!

Such a wonderful resort, our suite was incredible. The lounge chairs overlooking the cliff should not be missed. Pool was a little underwhelming but did it's job, would rather it be ocean facing. Nobu and Mozza were incredible restaurants, the lunch spot by the pool could use some menu upgrades it was just average. Overall though an incredible stay for 3-4 nights. Four Seasons always delivers. And you can rent a Jeep at the hotel to tour the island.
Dear Four Seasons Lanai Team,
My husband and I wanted to extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who made our babymoon last week such an unforgettable experience. We have stayed at many wonderful hotels over the years, but the genuine hospitality and care we experienced at Four Seasons Lanai truly stood out. You didn’t just provide us with a beautiful vacation—you created memories that we will cherish forever.
We would especially like to recognize Chaslyn for the exceptional care she took in ensuring everything was seamless from the very beginning. She coordinated our arrival perfectly, making sure we were picked up on time by Tina, who was an absolute joy. Tina welcomed us with such warmth, helped with our luggage, shared wonderful recommendations for dining and activities, and made the drive to the resort comfortable and enjoyable.
From the moment we arrived at the resort, we felt incredibly welcomed. Being greeted with beautiful lei, friendly smiles, and team members who took the time to orient us around the property immediately made us feel at home.
Our room upgrade was beyond anything we could have imagined. The view was breathtaking, and the thoughtful surprises waiting for us made our arrival even more special. The beautiful chocolate tree, delicious chocolates, adorable chocolate mousse cake, and especially the pregnancy pillow were such thoughtful touches that made us feel incredibly cared for. It was the perfect way to begin our babymoon.
Our dining experiences were equally memorable thanks to Carla. During our first evening at Nobu, she checked on us throughout dinner and surprised us with complimentary desserts and drinks, making an already wonderful evening even more special. The following day at Osteria Mozza, we happened to see her again and mentioned that we hadn’t had the chance to try the famous chocolate cookie sandwich. Without hesitation, she arranged to have one brought over from another restaurant so we could enjoy it for dessert. That level of personalized service truly exemplifies what makes Four Seasons so exceptional.
We would also like to recognize Eric, who consistently checked in with us throughout our stay, made sure we had transportation whenever we needed it, and always went out of his way to ensure everything was perfect. His kindness and genuine care made us feel less like guests and more like family.
A special thank you also goes to Brandon for providing such a smooth and welcoming check-in experience. He took the time to explain everything clearly, made sure we understood our resort benefits, helped us get settled with our wristbands, and shared fantastic recommendations that helped us make the most of our stay.
One of our favorite memories was spending time with Uncle Bruno and meeting his wonderful parrots. Getting to interact with them—and even hold them multiple times—was such a unique and joyful experience that we’ll be talking about for years.
What impressed us most wasn’t just the beauty of the resort, although Lanai is truly breathtaking. It was the people. Every interaction felt sincere. Every team member seemed genuinely invested in making our stay as special as possible. That level of hospitality is rare, and it transformed our babymoon into a truly once-in-a-lifetime experience.
Please extend our sincere gratitude to Chaslyn, Tina, Carla, Eric, Brandon, Uncle Bruno, and everyone else who helped make our stay so magical. They are an incredible reflection of the Four Seasons standard of hospitality.
Thank you for giving us the picture-perfect babymoon we had hoped for. We cannot wait to return to Lanai and see everyone again.
This is the best way I can describe the property: five-diamond staff in a four-diamond resort serving three-diamond food.
Let's start with the easy part—the staff.
With the exception of one unpleasant employee at The Break and two others who never acknowledged us, the service was exceptional. The front desk team (Ambassadors) was polished, professional, and genuinely welcoming.
Eunice at The Break deserves special recognition. She somehow makes your morning better after only a brief interaction. The pool and beach manager (salt-and-pepper hair and matching goatee) was equally impressive, constantly checking on guests, offering rides, and leading by example.
Now the food.
The best meals we had weren't at the resort:
Lana'i City Grill (best overall meal)
Lana'i Bowl (excellent pizza)
I Love Tacos (best tacos)
Ganotisi's (excellent Filipino/Korean lunch)
The common denominator? Better food at significantly better value.
I don't mind paying luxury prices for luxury food. I do mind paying luxury prices for average food. A $32 cheeseburger, $47 pizza, $68 chicken thighs, or $42 shrimp fried rice should be memorable. They weren't.
Yes, everything costs more in Hawaii. But the restaurants in Lana'i City face the same shipping challenges while delivering better food at much lower prices. The $68 Jidori chicken is a perfect example when Lana'i City Grill serves an outstanding half Jidori chicken for $39. And everyone on the island gets their food orders on the same Wednesday Sysco Foodservice barge.
The pricing disconnect was obvious throughout our stay. Guests spending well over $15,000 on four-night vacations regularly rode the complimentary shuttle into town and returned with groceries and snacks because resort pricing simply didn't feel reasonable.
Osteria Mozza felt like two different restaurants: the hotel's breakfast spot in the morning and an average Italian restaurant charging fine-dining prices at night. Fortunately, friends treated us to dinner. Had I paid the bill myself, my opinion would've been far less charitable.
Nobu was my biggest disappointment.
Months before arriving, I made two confirmed reservations, both acknowledged at check-in. We were celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary.
When we arrived, our reservation had disappeared. The restaurant accommodated us, but only at a cramped L-shaped table beside a family with two small barefoot children who spent dinner running around, watching cartoons, and making enough dinosaur noises that we skipped dessert simply because we wanted to leave. The children weren't the problem—they were just being kids. The lack of intervention from either the parents or staff was. Subsequently, we canceled our reservation of 6 the next morning.
One suggestion: the GM and F&B should spend an hour sitting at that L-shaped table. The pedestal base leaves almost no legroom, making an already tight table surprisingly uncomfortable.
Malibu Farm should embrac being a pool café instead of trying to be something more. The Break was our favorite quick breakfast grab and go spot thanks to excellent coffee and outstanding service, although ordering LeCoq croissants on your Sysco order would be an huge improvement over the current offerings.
The beach is beautiful but public, and conditions can change quickly. During our stay, a King Tide closed both the beach our last two days and golf course. Obviously, weather isn't the resort's fault, but it's worth knowing. The waves are nomally a little rough and the locals consider it to be the best place for surfing. They will camp out overnight in tents to catch the early waves.
Overall, we enjoyed our family vacation, and the staff deserves tremendous credit for making us feel welcome.
Unfortunately, the food and overall value never matched the level of service. Four Seasons Lana'i employs people who consistently deliver a five-diamond experience, but the dining program and pricing simply don't match their efforts.
It was a memorable family trip—but not a resort we'll return to.
