This hotel has an excellent location just a block or 2 from City Market and the riverfront. The rooms are clean and carpet is brand new! The staff was super friendly and the bed was super comfy! Highly recommend!

They charge 45 a night for valet but use the street to park your car. So they take up the free parking and you have no choice but to pay for parking there or somewhere else.

Disappointing Stay – Poor Customer Service and Misleading Expectations
I was extremely disappointed with my stay at the Holiday Inn Savannah Historic District.
During check-in, I overheard the front desk clerk informing another guest that the hotel did not offer breakfast. That guest was understandably upset, and I soon found myself feeling the same way.
When it was my turn, I first asked whether there was a self-parking option instead of the mandatory $45 valet parking. I was told I could either park on the street “at my own risk” or find one of the public parking lots. That was disappointing, especially considering the cost of staying at the hotel.
I then asked why the hotel wasn’t offering either a hot breakfast or even a simple continental breakfast. The clerk explained that the kitchen was being renovated. My immediate thought was: what kitchen equipment is required to provide cereal, fruit, yogurt, pastries, coffee, and juice? A continental breakfast certainly doesn’t require a fully functioning commercial kitchen.
To make matters worse, customer service later messaged me saying they couldn’t offer a free breakfast. The problem is, I never asked for anything free. I would have gladly paid for breakfast. I simply expected a Holiday Inn to have some type of breakfast service or restaurant available.
The front desk’s solution was to suggest I walk to nearby restaurants. I explained that I have physical limitations, making that difficult. My only practical option would have been to call the valet (and tip again) just to retrieve my car, drive somewhere else, pay for parking, eat breakfast, then return and pay to park again.
Ironically, the hotel bar was open and serving hot food. That only reinforced my belief that the hotel was capable of providing at least some breakfast options if management had chosen to do so.
What was especially frustrating was that my room rate remained exactly the same despite the reduced amenities. There was no acknowledgment of the inconvenience, no discount, no food credit, and no attempt by management to make things right. Instead, I encountered staff who seemed indifferent and unwilling to help.
In hindsight, I could have stayed at a less expensive Holiday Inn Express, where complimentary hot and cold breakfasts are standard. I mistakenly assumed that a full-service Holiday Inn would be the higher-tier experience, complete with restaurant amenities and better service. Unfortunately, that was not the case.
This experience has left me questioning the direction of the IHG brand. Based on this stay, I’ll be looking much more closely at Marriott properties for future trips.
I cannot recommend this hotel. Between the expensive valet-only parking, lack of breakfast, poor customer service, and no effort to compensate guests for missing amenities, this property failed to deliver the level of service I expected from a Holiday Inn. I will not stay here again.
