We stayed at the Holiday Inn Express Savannah Historic 199 East Bay Street twice within one week because of its great location, and unfortunately both stays had the same ongoing issues. Most concerning was that one elevator was out of service for the entire hotel during both visits, creating long waits and inconvenience throughout the stay with the one remaining elevator. This single elevator was used by the staff as well. The hotel itself felt poorly maintained. The carpet in the hallways and rooms appeared dirty, and there was a persistent musty smell that made the property feel old and neglected. The room also did not include coffee, which is a basic amenity most travelers expect from a hotel in this price range. They did offer 2 automatic coffee machines in the lobby area which was nice but inconvenient. The breakfast was another issue. It was a buffet arrangement. The selection was very limited, and nearly everything offered consisted of highly processed food items with little variety or freshness. The second visit had fewer items than the first. Breakfast is included in the room rate so obviously the hotel is looking to find the cheapest way out. It was very disappointing. What made the experience even more frustrating was the valet parking situation. The hotel charges $48 per night for valet parking, yet there is a city parking lot immediately next door charging only about $10–14 per night. The markup felt excessive and unnecessary. The only positive part of our stay was the staff. The employees were consistently friendly, professional, and helpful, and they clearly did their best to work around the flaws in the hotel’s systems and maintenance issues. Unfortunately, good service alone could not make up for the overall condition and value of the property. We will not be staying here again. We advise others to do the same. There are several other hotels in this area with the same prime location.

I prepaid for a two queen bed room back in January for our one night stay in May. We arrived at 4pm, an hour after check in time. Upon check in I was informed that a room was not ready for me, and not only that but they would not have a room available with two queen beds, and we would need to wait for a room with one queen bed and a pull out couch. I let them know that our group changed and we could take room with the one bed. They then noted they could check us in right away. Instead of giving us a comparable room, with a king they placed us on the smallest room they had and did not refund a discount with the the difference in cost. While the individual at the desk was nice and the location is great I was very disappointed that I paid for a larger room and instead got a “closet”. And with this experience I would not stay here again or recommend.

This hotel was aweful! First we checked in and the two black female clerks snarled at my husband and we're not friendly. Never looked at you or smiled. Only one elevator worked and almost got stuck. Pool located on top floor was cold and no towels available. You have to pay 50 bucks a day and you either have to use their valet parking or pay 78 dollars a day to park elsewhere! 78 a day? Really? Worse than Nyc. It's located in historic district but the only thing open at night were a few restaurants. No stores open past 4 pm. Many many homeless walking around. Free breakfast disgusting! Fake eggs and canned gravy. Free coffee machine 24/7. Beds are aweful. Woke up with back pain. Bar is only open from Wednesday thru Saturday only. Totally unprofessional and will never stay here again. It's cheap at 76 a night. But that's it. Not much to do at night in area. A few bars and restaurants.

This hotel is a bit shabby, but we had a great stay! The hotel was quiet and clean. The front desk staff was friendly, the concierge was amazing, and the breakfast server was very nice, as were the valets. The location is perfect - very close to the shops and restaurants along the river, but also walking distance to everything we wanted to see. We didn't have to take transit once during our stay.

One elevator was down, and it took almost 5mins for us to use the other elevator every time bc it was either full or stopped on every floor. We later decided to just use the stairs, which made our stay extremely uncomfortable. Also, the blinds in our room(#411) were broken and didn’t roll up, so we couldn’t get any sunlight. Was gonna request for a change, but was too bothered to walk down all the way to the lobby. The staffs were friendly, but would not stay here again. Especially for the overpriced rooms on the weekend.
