Was it great? No. Was is convenient? Also no. Was it cheaper than the comparable off base hotels? No - it was the same price. But it's the privatized on base lodging so I'm required to stay here. It's conveniently located next to one of the Hunter Army Airfield gates. But that gate is also inconveniently closed most of the time when you want to leave post. The layout of the room was okay. I liked how the television was mounted on the wall. It was easy to adjust and plug in my own Firestick. Walking into the room was not great. It smelled like a pool. Specifically, it smelled like a combination of mildew and the bleach used to clean it. My nose went blind to this after a while. But it came back every time I returned. My desk chair also did not have working wheels on it. It skidded against the floor every time it moved. I tried to avoid using it, but I needed the desk space for work. My room had a door that opened to the exterior of the building. I could easily see daylight around the door. This means it's not exactly keeping the weather or the bugs out.

Update for the review below: Following my review, management reached out to me directly regarding my concerns. They apologized for the inconvenience and informed me that they plan to address the moisture smell issue that I experienced during my stay. I genuinely appreciated the phone call and the willingness to listen to customer feedback. It is refreshing to see a business take concerns seriously and make an effort to improve the experience for future guests. Their customer service was excellent, and the follow-up demonstrated that they value their guests and their reputation. ————————————————————————————— This hotel should lose the “H” and replace it with an “M” because it felt more like a Motel than a Hotel. To be fair, the room was clean, which is already half the battle these days. Unfortunately, it came with that unmistakable “old house that hasn’t opened a window since the Clinton administration” smell. I ended up making an emergency run for Febreze just to negotiate a peace treaty with the air quality. If you’re looking for spacious suites or a luxury experience, keep scrolling. They don’t have suites available, and this definitely isn’t a four-star stay. The room gets the job done, but nobody is going to mistake it for a resort. That said, the front desk staff were genuinely friendly and helpful, which went a long way toward improving the experience. The breakfast was also surprisingly decent. Nothing life-changing, but certainly enough to keep me from writing an angry review before my first cup of coffee. Was it the hotel of my dreams? Not even close. But for the price, it wasn’t terrible. I’ve stayed in Army barracks rooms that had less personality but about the same decorating budget. Overall, not luxurious, not memorable, but perfectly survivable.

Cathy, at the front desks was extremely polite and friendly, she answered all our questions and made me and my wife very comfortable upon our arrival. She represents a fine example of what the hospitality be. We could have gone ABNB, or VRBO...as I recalled our last few experiences in the past made our choice to return to Holiday Inn, Hunter Air Base the right choice. Thanks...ps...the breakfast host on the morning of the 19th April was also very helpful and friendly...
