I read the reviews before I booked this hotel, but I only needed a place to stay for a couple of days while attending my daughter's graduation. Since the hotel hadn't been open very long, I decided to give it a chance despite some of the unfavorable reviews.
Unfortunately, my experience wasn't much different.
I arrived late Thursday night. There was a sign on the door stating that no one would be available after 11:00 PM. I had several things to do after checking in, so I dropped off my luggage, went to get something to eat, and spent some time with family before returning later that night.
When I went into the bathroom to take a shower, I found pubic hair all over the shower floor, across the toilet, on the toilet paper holder, and extending all the way to the sink area. Since there was no one available downstairs to speak with and it was already very late, I decided to just get some sleep. The sheets appeared clean, and I had an early morning ahead of me for graduation.
The next morning, I left early and didn't have time to address the issue before heading out. After graduation, I returned to the hotel intending to speak with someone about the condition of the room.
When I got back, I discovered that not only was the pubic hair still everywhere, but there was also human feces left in the toilet from a previous guest. I know it wasn't mine because I had not used the bathroom facilities after arriving. By that point, I was completely disgusted.
I went downstairs to report the situation. Initially, the only solution offered was another room if I planned to stay additional nights. Instead, an employee came upstairs with a plunger and personally handled the toilet issue. Afterward, he accidentally left his emergency access card in my room. He later called and asked if it had been left behind, and I ended up bringing it back downstairs for him.
Later that day, I spoke with the manager, Tracy. She told me that no one had informed her about the condition of my room and apologized for what had happened. She assured me that she would take care of it. Tracy also personally promised me a late checkout and stated that she would make sure it was documented in the computer system.
The employee who had handled the toilet issue had also promised me a late checkout, so hearing the same thing from the manager made me feel confident that the matter had been resolved.
However, Saturday morning I received an early phone call asking whether I still wanted the late checkout. That completely defeated the purpose. Despite being assured by both the employee and Tracy that the late checkout had been arranged and documented, nobody seemed to know anything about it. Either notes are not being entered properly, they are not being communicated between staff members, or they are simply not being reviewed. Whatever the reason, that is not something guests should have to deal with.
To top it all off, when I checked out, the same employee who had come to my room with a plunger and personally addressed the toilet issue asked me how my stay was. I was honestly surprised by the question, considering he was fully aware of the pubic hair throughout the bathroom and the human feces left in the toilet. It felt as though no one remembered the issues I had experienced, despite the fact that multiple staff members had been involved.
At that point, the cleanliness issues were bad enough, but the lack of communication among staff made the entire experience even more frustrating. I should not have had to track down employees, return staff access cards, explain the same issues multiple times, or worry about whether arrangements that were promised would actually be honored.
If you don't mind being woken up despite having a late checkout arranged, if you don't mind finding pubic hair throughout your bathroom, and if you don't mind discovering someone else's feces in your toilet, then this may be the place for you.
As for me, I expected basic cleanliness, communication, and professionalism. Unfortunately, this hotel failed at all three.
