With 100-ish rooms that are all a little different, voco The Darwin - Atlanta Midtown invites guests to empty their rucksacks and refill them with the heart and soul of Atlanta. Travel makes taking chances easier: try unfamiliar food, buy that wild piece of art, or turn the dial on your personality up a couple notches—no regrets. Our hotel embraces an “I’m not home right now; please leave my 9-to-5 self a message” mentality. We were born for it. In Atlanta, a city full of type-A corporate hotels, we’re the odd duck dressed a little too loudly for the occasion. The lobby feels more like a local gallery than a business center, and the courtyard cocktail bar is essentially East Side Atlanta’s three-season living room. Our hotel is nestled in the epicenter of change—its creative, bold, globally cultured, ever-evolving East Side Old 4th Ward neighborhood. Choose your own adventure. With Ponce City Market two blocks away, punky Little Five Points nearby, catch a show at The Eastern, peek under the sea at the Georgia Aquarium, or let the kids play at Piedmont Park—all within three miles of our hotel. If you’d rather stay in, there’s plenty to do here too. Shoot for your next PR on our custom-designed Rogue Fitness equipment, cozy up around a crackling fire in the courtyard, or gather your team for a brainstorming session in The Canvas Room. When you’re ready to relax, your room is waiting.

After leaving a sketchy Airbnb situation, The Darwin was exactly the safe harbor we needed and a much better value by far. Jasmine at check-in was so welcoming and knowledgeable about the property. Every staff member we encountered was equally lovely and helpful. The welcome drinks, both alcohol and non-alcoholic were a nice touch. My husband who has significant back problems cannot stop raving about how comfortable the mattress was. Our room was very comfortable and spacious. The icing on the cake was the super convenient proximity to Ponce City Market and the beltline. We would absolutely stay here again and recommend The Darwin highly.

The building and the rooms are visually beautiful. The bed was also very comfortable. I arrived late in the evening and the front desk was wonderful at check in. They are eager to service your room. I hung a do not disturb sign but keep getting text messages asking me if I was sure. It's a nice gesture but also annoying since I was working in the city at the time. There is no fridge in the room and the ice machine is on the second floor. My problem with that is there were no signs stating where the ice machine was located. After a long drive, an Easter egg hunt for the ice was not enjoyable. There is no plug near the coffee machine either so I had to move it to use it. The carpet in the hall is very difficult to roll luggage on. I am a disabled veteran and suffer with vertigo in occasion. I woke up the day I was leaving with vertigo so it took several small trips down to load my car. The first trip down, I realized I left my key in the room so I stopped at the front desk to get another one. I explained what happened and gave her my room number. She asked my name which I gave. She asked my phone number which I gave. She asked my email which I have several so I gave the words they both have in common. Then she asked me what the numbers were in the emails. This is the point that I got very, very annoyed (while the world is spinning for me) and asked if she wanted my social too. So she finally just gave me a key. Overall, I probably wouldn't stay here again because while it looks good from the outside and the bed is nice, it doesn't function well. Most of the staff were great but others were annoying enough to put me off from coming back. I also think that parking is over priced considering that it isn't in the heart of downtown and it isn't valet.
You should also be aware that the standard rooms range wildly in size from 195-305 sqft. I was given what was probably the tiniest room available. It would not have worked for more than one person. It barely worked for just me and I only stayed 2 nights.

Beautiful boutique hotel located near all of the action. Upon checking in, I was greeted with Jasmine with a beautiful a smile; she was very detailed and warm. I was given two free drink tickets for the bar. Marquetta helped me check out in the morning and was very helpful with printing out documents for me; she was lovely. It was a great stay.

I know it looks weird to have an overall 3 when everything was good. The exception is don’t plan to sleep if you’re on the first floor. Everything about this hotel is amazing except the noise from upstairs. Every step taken vibrates the walls. The first night we did not sleep but a few hours because we were woken up at 2am by someone stomping back and forth for an hour. Literally back and forth. I can’t imagine what is happening that someone needs to walk back and forth that many times for that long at 2am. The staff are gracious and they did send security up to ask them to chill on the stomping. They were apologetic and very compassionate about it. It’s not the staffs fault by any means. Apparently it’s in the construction of the building. The second night we were told no one would be above us until approximately 11pm when doors started slamming, furniture started moving and the stomping commenced. I hate it because this is the cutest hotel I’ve ever stayed in. It’s so unique. Maybe if you stay on the top floor that would be helpful. With all the great things about this hotel, I can’t give a perfect score when the reason I booked the room, sleep, didn’t happen. I should’ve known there was something up when I saw that ear plugs are provided in the rooms. Just keep in mind what you can tolerate when booking.
