This is a Dragon Con story. I have been a loyal member at the Cortland Grand from before it was sold and was still the Sheraton. The Cortland Grand does not care about the guests in any way. The have cancelled so many rooms within a month of the biggest convention of the year for 80,000 people. They don't communicate and they don't actually try to help. Dragon Con is a 24/7 kind of convention. The people that were cancelled on were offered another hotel 2 miles away without any sort of discount. And then, they were offered shuttle services that don't even run before 10am or after midnight. Most of the dances/best parties start at 10 or 11. Huge disappointment that they have fallen so far from what they used to be.

I had a wonderful stay at Courtland Grand Hotel. The hotel is conveniently located in downtown Atlanta, making it easy to access nearby attractions, restaurants, and public transportation. The check-in process was smooth, and the staff were friendly, professional, and welcoming throughout my stay. The room was clean, spacious, and comfortable, with everything needed for a relaxing visit. The common areas were well maintained, and the overall atmosphere was quiet and inviting. One of the highlights was the hotel’s amenities, including the indoor pool and fitness center, which added to the overall experience. The on-site dining options were convenient, and the service was excellent. Overall, I had a great experience at Courtland Grand Hotel. It offers a comfortable stay, excellent customer service, and a convenient location in the heart of Atlanta. I would definitely recommend it to anyone visiting the city for business or leisure and look forward to staying here again.

I don’t usually post negatively but the fitness center here is banged up enough that I feel internal feedback won’t move the needle. 3 bikes and an ERG, none of which was fully functional, 2/4 not at all. Didn’t try the treadmills but I’d guess not much better. The cable weight machine’s cable was outside the machine, not inside where it belongs. At least there are free weights but dang. Staff was all friendly and helpful but the property is clearly underinvested

My experience at this hotel included a spacious and barren lobby, friendly and attentive valet parking attendants, rude and unhelpful front desk staff, elevators that to me smell like urine, decent restaurant food, limited food hours, broken vending machines, uncomfortable beds, rooms with weak air conditioning, stained carpets in the rooms, a beautiful pool within a humid enclosure, and an abundance of unexpected fees and policies. There are other options nearby and I do not recommend this hotel.

Extremely Disappointing Experience During My Doctoral Graduation Weekend I chose this hotel because it was only five minutes from my graduation. I traveled 10 hours from Baltimore with my family of five, along with two additional family members who came to support me as I graduated with high honors and my doctoral degree. I loved the hotel’s amenities, and we had no issues with the hotel itself until checkout day. Because we needed to come and go throughout the weekend, we used valet parking. Unfortunately, on the morning of my graduation, valet lost our car keys, causing me to arrive extremely late to my own graduation. Throughout the day, we were repeatedly told that they could not find the keys. We were left without transportation and had to pay for multiple Ubers. Several Uber drivers refused to take us because we had small children without car seats, and some still charged us despite not completing the trip. Our plans for the weekend were completely disrupted, including a planned two-hour trip to visit my grandparents. The hotel eventually provided someone to drive us around, but after dinner at a restaurant, he told us he could not pick us up because he had something else to do. We were left outside with tired and fussy children waiting for transportation. What made the situation worse was the lack of urgency and accountability from hotel management. I repeatedly asked to speak with someone in charge. I was told the director would be contacted, but nothing was done. Valet continued making excuses, stating that the young employee who parked our car had misplaced the key. Each time I checked, I saw him on his phone and on social media. I was also repeatedly told a locksmith was an hour away, but each time I checked, there was still no locksmith. I eventually became so frustrated that I stated I would call the police. Thankfully, another valet driver finally found our keys inside their vehicle. Once we got our keys, we immediately packed up and left. I understand that mistakes happen, but the way this situation was handled was unacceptable. This was my first visit to Atlanta, and what should have been one of the happiest and most memorable weekends of my life—celebrating my doctoral graduation—was overshadowed by stress, missed plans, additional expenses, and frustration. The hotel itself had great amenities and a convenient location, but because of this experience with valet parking and the lack of meaningful assistance from management, I will not return to this hotel and unfortunately do not plan to return to Atlanta.
