We planned a family vacation from Sunday 6/14 to Saturday 6/20. When we travel, we typically choose to stay at Holiday Inns. We know what to expect with service, facilities, and amenities which all work very well for our family. This location is unfortunately not one we will visit again. Upon entering, we saw a front desk person talking with another, what we assumed was, guest. This guest quickly stopped talking to her allowing her to turn her attention to us. She informed us that the elevator was down, and since they only had one, our only option was to use the stairs. This wouldn’t be an issue if we were staying for a night or two, but this was a week visiting family and traveling between amusement parks, beaches, and pools. She did offer that we could cancel and receive a full refund due to this inconvenience though, we simply didn’t have another option than to accept the circumstances. She stated that it should only be down for about 2 days. The elevator was not worked on, that we saw, until Thursday. Thankfully it was fully operational by Thursday night because trying to haul our cooler up and down the stairs was old by Tuesday night.
We understand that not having the elevator was a huge hindrance for room service and cleaning crew, so it really made things hard for them to bring all supplies upstairs and such. We booked a room that slept 6 people and stated that on the booking. There were only three sets of towels, a single roll of toilet paper, no sheets/blankets for the pull out couch, and not ready/ do not disturb sign for the door handle. So our first night, we had to ask for more items. Also note that the shower pan as severely cracked down the middle and looks as if it had been for a long time. The bathroom was also questionably clean, a ball of hair behind the door, hair in the sink and shower, and the toilet base dirty. When we went down to ask for them, the “guest” we had seen earlier was walking around talking with the front desk person accompanied by a small child. We now believe this was probably her family. Do not misunderstand though, all the front desk people we encountered were very nice and professional when interacting with us. The pool was hit or miss, only because it was as warm as bath water and often dirty due to all the trees around. The food was solid, full offer available and the food staff were friendly and attentive, actually one of the only holiday inns we’ve been to that served bacon. Dining area was also clean and rather big with plenty of seating. But what really got me was Saturday morning. We were getting the room packed up, kids showered and all. Two showers later and I hop in. I’m in the shower not even 5-8 minutes and I lose all water. Not just water pressure or hot water, all water all together. I turned the shower off for a moment and waited before trying again. Still no water. I had to finishing washing up at the sink. Just not a great visit. The front desk staff did explain that the hotel is under new ownership and, with it being an older building, there is a lot of renovations going on. We didn’t see anything to show this but what do we know. Again, all the staff were super pleasant and it looks like they are doing their best, just possibly cutting some corners that, unfortunately, can be a big inconvenience to guests. It wasn’t the worst experience, but I do not believe we will be staying here again when visiting family unless we had no other options.

We checked late afternoon and the desk clerk was great. She. Was very helpful and friendly. Lat that night a family with at least 4 children arrived and they woke us playing and running on the hall. The clerk had to talk to the parents 2 or 3 times but she resolved it.
The only positive things I have to say about this hotel is the front desk staff were friendly and it's a good location because it's so close to practically everything. If you get grossed easily by things, you may want to look elsewhere.
But it was an extremely disappointing stay. The cleanliness and housekeeping standards seem to be nonexistent. Day 1 when we first got in the room, we sat down and noticed there were crumbs all over the floor, an old FRY underneath the nightstand between the beds, and even toenail clippings both left behind from a previous guest. (See pics - I couldn't take a pic of all the crumbs as they were everywhere) The beds were horribly made and the room overall looked rushed. It wasn't properly cleaned or prepared. Yuck!!
The towels were another issue. Several towels over a 4-night stay had random hairs on them, and many were STAINED with unknown marks that looked potentially like old blood. So disgusting. (I forgot pics of these) Thankfully we brought towels from home.
The following morning, we complained and requested that housekeeping vacuum and properly clean the room. After being gone several hours, we returned to find that almost nothing had been done. OH, fresh towels had been left, but the used towels were still there, the beds had not been made, the trash cans had not been emptied, and the room had still not been vacuumed. The same fry, crumbs, and toenail clippings were all still there exactly as before.
Make matters worse, we returned to the room one night and found a baby ROACH in the shower lol. (See pic below) On top of that, the entire second floor smells like hot piss. I could go on , I'll stop here-
I've stayed in a ton of hotels, this was by far THEE worst hotel experience I have ever had. They won't have to worry about me returning. Yucky yucky

Let me start by saying that the front desk staff were all very kind, professional, and helpful. Unfortunately, my issue was with the housekeeping standards during our stay.
On our first night, we noticed the carpet had not been properly vacuumed. We politely mentioned it to the front desk, and they assured us they would notify housekeeping. While the carpet appeared to have been vacuumed afterward, the same french fry, nail clippings, and other debris remained on the floor the next day, making it clear the room had not been thoroughly cleaned.
Throughout our stay, our beds were never made. The trash was emptied, but an additional trash bag we had started in the bathroom because the original can was overflowing was left untouched. We also saw a baby roach in the shower. The shower itself was never cleaned during our stay, and visible hard-water buildup in the corners had begun turning yellow, indicating it had not been properly maintained.
My daughter mentioned that some hotels only provide housekeeping services every other day. If that was the policy, it was never communicated to us at check-in or during our stay. Regardless, basic cleanliness should not be optional.
I work hard for my money and expect a clean hotel room when I travel. I don't believe daily attention to basic housekeeping tasks such as vacuuming, cleaning bathrooms and showers, making beds, and removing trash is an unreasonable expectation.
This experience has completely changed my opinion of Holiday Inn Express and the IHG brand. While I appreciated the courtesy of the front desk team, the lack of cleanliness and housekeeping standards means this will be my last stay at a Holiday Inn Express, and I have no intention of continuing my IHG membership.
