Truly disappointed! We stayed here on Memorial Day weekend for 3 nights. I’m a Diamond Elite member so I’ve stayed in many IHG hotels over the years. I’d been eagerly waiting for this location to open, because we love new Staybridge hotels. My initial reservation in December was cancelled, because somehow these places can never get the timing right. Okay, not my first rodeo with that. We went ahead and rescheduled.
We arrived to check-in just after 5pm after sitting in lots of traffic. Our room was not ready. We were given a room that was not turned over. I went back downstairs and we had to wait again, others were in the same boat. Eventually, we were told to go up to a different room. When we got there, it was still being cleaned. We waited for quite awhile outside of the room and eventually got in there after 6:30pm. We were starving and walked over to Culver’s. When we got back to the room, I started looking around more closely. The shelves and lampshades were all dusty, thankfully I had cleaning wipes. I saw crumbs in the kitchen and hair on multiple surfaces in the bathroom. I wiped everything down that I saw. The supposedly brand new couch had two large stains.
In the morning, I looked in the shower for the first time. It was absolutely disgusting. I have never arrived to a hotel room with a shower looking like that. There was literal snot on the walls, hair throughout, and some kind of face wash with blue beads in it on the wall. We went down to breakfast and informed the woman at the counter. We agreed to have someone come to the room to clean the shower as long as they could do it soon. I waited for over an hour and no one showed up. The morning was almost gone and we were supposed to be at the beach. I didn’t want someone coming in while we were gone, did I mention we were traveling with our cat? Do not recommend, but we were in a jam. We left for the beach and I ended up having to scrub the shower myself later on. The beach we wanted to go to was full with no parking available.
The next day, the same woman at the counter sent over the director of operations to speak with me. She was very empathetic and offered to refund our pet fee and the points we’d used for the stay. I told her that we had another weekend booked, because we love the area and had eagerly been awaiting the opening of this hotel. Now, I was hesitant to come back. She offered to upgrade our room for that trip. We left unsure how to feel about returning.
I noticed that no refund was issued and after several days called the hotel. She assured me that the refund was issued. On my end, in the IHG app and my bank account, I have never seen any evidence of a refund being issued. I called back again weeks later asking about my points refund and refund of the pet fee. The woman took down my information and I never received a call back. I used 27,000 points for the stay and received back only 12,000. I have not received the pet fee back. I cancelled our follow up stay. If they would have honored what they said, I would’ve given it another try, but I do not feel valued as a customer or Diamond Elite member. We would’ve come here on a regular basis for weekends away, but we will not be doing that now.
Really enjoyed our stay. Extended our stay to a week at check in with no problems. Hotel provides complimentary breakfast each morning. Monday-Wednesday they provide a nice snack meal starting at 5:30 pm. The pool is heated and was enjoyable because it was never overcrowded. Really a great place to stay because it is minutes away from the town center, stores, aquarium, and Amish shops and restaurants. Only 30 minutes away from Siesta Keys Beach. Great staff and a nice laundry room to wash and dry clothes. We stayed in a one bedroom with 2 queen beds, sofa bed, with a kitchen. Very spacious for 5 people. Would definitely book to stay again.
Brand new hotel with lots of amenities.
I typically stay at Marriotts but after a last minute change in plans, I was scrambling for a hotel. I found this one, and was reluctant as I've heard some horror stories about Staybridge hotels. I was pleasantly surprised with how nice it was! The fitness center was pretty basic, and the breakfast wasn't anything to write home about, but the pool and room were fantastic. Having the In-suite kitchen was nice with toddlers and their late evening mac-and-cheese cravings. It's really close to Lido Key beach, which I 100% recommend checking out.

We checked into Staybridge Suites Sarasota-Bradenton Airport expecting a normal stay, but quickly discovered that the toilet in our room was not functioning and would not flush.
After using the toilet, we realized there was a serious plumbing issue. Repeated attempts to flush failed, and the toilet backed up with sewage water. The attached photo shows the condition of the toilet after multiple unsuccessful attempts to get it working.
We immediately reported the issue to hotel management and requested assistance.
Unfortunately, it was not resolved, leaving us without a working toilet. The situation became unsanitary, and I was forced to manually remove water to prevent further overflow.
What was most disappointing was the response. We did not receive an apology or acknowledgment of the severity of the situation. Instead of a replacement room or refund, we were instructed to leave the property after raising legitimate health and sanitation concerns.
We have submitted photographs and a formal complaint to IHG Executive Communications. IHG corporate is currently looking to resolve the matter.
Based on this experience, we cannot recommend this property. A functioning toilet is a basic expectation of any hotel stay.

My daughter and I arrived for a 5 night stay. The hotel itself is clean and our room was great. The staff is welcoming and we enjoyed all the amenities. As we checked out, our flight back home kept showing delay upon delay and ultimately ended up getting our flight cancelled. The staff was so wonderful checking in on me as I tried to deal with all the rebooking of flight, hotel, and rental car. Nijah was especially so helpful and attentive and I really appreciated the customer service she provided.
