Disgusting and by far our worst Holiday Inn experience!! We are currently on a long road trip across the United States and have already stayed at many Holiday Inn and Holiday Inn Express hotels. Unfortunately, this was by far the worst one we have experienced. We had a wonderful day at the beach and booked this hotel for one night simply to get a few hours of sleep and take a shower after swimming in salt water all day. Instead, we experienced one disappointment after another. Right from the start, our room key did not work, so we had to go all the way back to the front desk. Later, after getting the rest of our luggage from the car, the key stopped working AGAIN and we had to go back downstairs for a second time. While at the front desk, we saw one guest cancel their stay and another guest complain that there was no hot water. Shortly afterward, we discovered the same problem ourselves: there was no hot water in our room either. We were told that the issue might not be fixed for several days and that maintenance might not be available until the next day. After spending the entire day swimming in salt water, we couldn’t even take a proper shower. The room itself was in an appalling condition. We were given an extremely small bed for two. The bedding had stains on it and actually felt damp. We honestly felt disgusted having to sleep in it. We also found a CLIPPED TOENAIL on the carpet right next to the bed. At that point, we seriously questioned how thoroughly this room had been cleaned at all. The rest of the room wasn’t any better. The chairs were heavily worn and literally starting to fall apart, the entire room felt run-down, and there was an unpleasant smell. On top of that, people were constantly walking through the hallways and slamming doors in the middle of the night. Why did we stay despite all of this? We didn’t arrive until around 12:30 a.m. and had to leave again at approximately 6 a.m. The hotel was completely booked, so changing rooms wasn’t an option either. At that hour, searching for another hotel and moving all of our luggage just to leave again a few hours later wasn’t a realistic alternative. There was also no reasonable way to resolve our complaint with management while we were there. We were told that the manager responsible would not be back at the hotel for another FOUR DAYS. We paid around $130 for this experience. During our road trip, we have stayed at many other Holiday Inn properties for around $100 per night and received significantly better rooms. We don’t expect luxury for $130. But hot water, a clean room, dry and stain-free bedding, working room keys, and especially a carpet without a previous guest’s toenail on it should be absolute minimum standards for any hotel. Looking back, we honestly would have rather slept in our car than paid $130 for this night. After our otherwise good experiences with Holiday Inn, this stay was an enormous disappointment. We definitely cannot recommend this hotel. Regarding the owner’s response: Yes, we definitely reviewed the correct hotel. We are from Germany, where we commonly use the term “double bed” simply to mean a bed for two people. We were not aware that “Double Bed” refers to a specific bed size in the US. We have corrected the wording. This, of course, does not change our experience or the rest of our review.

I unfortunately did not feel safe during my stay at this hotel. On Sunday, August 16, around 11:00 PM, while I was in the room with my young son, an unknown man knocked on our door. I opened the door slightly with the security latch still on, thinking it could be hotel staff. Instead, the man simply said, “Hi, how are you?” and stood there looking at me. He appeared very relaxed, did not say he had the wrong room, and did not explain why he was at my door. I immediately closed and locked it. What was most disappointing was the hotel’s response. I tried calling the front desk from the phone in my room, but the line was not working. Once I was able to contact the front desk another way and report what happened, I was told there was essentially nothing they could do. I did see that the hotel had a security guard outside, but to my knowledge, security was never sent upstairs to check the hallway, and no hotel employee came to my room to check on my son and me after I reported the incident. I understand that a hotel cannot control the actions of every individual who enters the property. However, I do expect a reported safety concern, especially involving a mother traveling alone with a young child to be taken seriously. Even having someone come upstairs to check the area or make sure we were okay would have made a difference. After the incident and the lack of response, I no longer felt comfortable or safe staying there and ultimately checked out a day early. Unfortunately, the way this situation was handled significantly impacted my experience at the hotel.

My family and I stayed at this hotel for one night in late April/early May during our trip to Miami. Our experience started to go downhill when we had a simple question about the shampoo and asked a housekeeper for assistance. Before we could even finish asking, she repeatedly interrupted us by saying, “Me no English.” Rather than trying to understand the issue or calling another employee who could help, she simply brushed us off. We went downstairs to ask if there was someone else we could speak with, but the front desk told us she was the only person available. Disappointed by the lack of customer service, we decided not to leave any tips and checked out. About three hours after checking out, I received a call from the hotel manager claiming that the window blind had been torn and a chair had been scratched. I immediately told him we had not caused any damage and had absolutely no reason to do so. Given what had happened earlier, it felt like retaliation from housekeeping because we didn’t leave a tip. Despite our explanation, the manager insisted we were responsible and charged my credit card $1,000 without my authorization. Thankfully, we were eventually able to get our money back, but the entire situation was stressful and completely unacceptable. Customers should not have to worry about being falsely accused of damaging a room after checkout. If you decide to stay here, I strongly recommend taking a detailed video of the entire room before you leave. It could save you from going through the same ordeal. This was an extremely disappointing experience. The staff was rude, the manager was unreasonable and unprofessional, and the way this situation was handled left us with a very negative impression of Holiday Inn. Update: Since i can’t reply here, im sending my response to Miguel’s in a form of pictures
