UPDATED: The property is now accusing me of being dishonest?! How insulting! I clearly wrote I stayed over Memorial Day and spent over 7 months trying to resolve this issue. Do the math! Do I need to upload the photos?! I clearly wrote that I tried multiple times to resolve this with the property and now THIS is the response I finally get? Disgusting!
REVIEW: I have been a Diamond Elite member with IHG for about a decade and rarely have any issues with my stays. This particular stay was inconvenient, to say the absolute least. My stay was TWO NIGHTS on business and had no issues during my first night. I woke up the next day to very loud construction happening in the room next door, which caused disruptions to my work Zoom meetings. I went down to the front desk and spoke with Alexander who was awesome and he worked his magic to move me to a new room. Because I was still working, it was inconvenient to pack up and hustle to the new room but I did. Upon arrival in the second room, I immediately jumped back on Zoom. Because I was staring at my screen, I hadn't realized a huge puddle of water emerging from the kitchenette/fridge area, which eventually spread very quickly around the room. I ran, with wet feet, back downstairs to let Alexander and the team know, and they moved me to yet another room (grateful!). This room, however, was a downgrade from my initial reservation but due to the busy Memorial Day weekend, the emergency leak, and loud the construction, it was the last room left. Well, that room had an issue with the front door not locking which required a locksmith had to be called. So I packed up all my stuff again, left it in luggage storage, and finished my Zoom meetings in the bustling lobby. The acting front desk manager on site, Olenka, promised to do whatever she could to find me a room to sleep in that night and make up to me the maintenance issues by depositing points into my account, which had to be approved by the higher-up manager, Lourdes, who was off for the holiday weekend. Alexander had previously documented the initial issues, and Olenka confirmed she could see his notes in the computer and would add this issue to them before passing them along to Lourdes. A bed now and points later was the agreement. Well, I ended up not getting assigned another room. I slept most of the night in a chair in the lobby until I was informed that they could not find a single free room. They weren't allowed to reassign me the room with the plumbing leak, but I could still go back to the room with the front door that doesn't lock. Since my flight was so early the next morning, I just went back to that room, put a chair behind the door, got dressed, and headed for the airport.
Over the course of about 7 months or so, I called, left messages, sent emails almost daily to Lourdes and the property manager Alan, who NEVER responded and NEVER deposited the points into my account (I wasn't promised an exact number, but was offered back the equivalent of the 1 night). I also began emailing the other side of the property, Hotel Indigo, to see if someone could pass the word along, contact me back, let me know if Lourdes or Alan still work there, just anything. Also, no responses. Eventually, all the emails starting bouncing back as if I was blocked. So they DID see my emails?! And chose not to respond. How disrespectful, rude and unprofessional!
I had reached out to IHG customer service who informed me that a ticket was never created to deposit points and follow up with me about my experiences, which is apparently the typical flow. In the period of time that all my emails were being ignored, I was in Miami 4 or 5 times. I've since been back almost a dozen times. It's so irritating to be reminded every time I'm booking a hotel that my experiences was of no value to them and making it up to me was the least of their worries. They would rather be dishonest and dismissive than considerate of a guest's money and loyalty. I hate that it had to come to writing this review but I endured a lot, I was extremely patient, and I was ignored.
