no volvería jamás y me da mucha pena haber malgastado mi dinero.
I booked a four-night stay at the Best Western Plus Atlantic Beach Resort in Miami Beach. I was really hesitant to book it after reading so many recent bad reviews. Upon arrival, the hotel looked fine. I had rented a minivan for my son’s college move-in, and finding a parking space by the hotel was a total nightmare. I waited about 30 minutes for someone to leave a space and was able to pay for parking right by the hotel.
I had asked for and was denied early check-in, so we went to the beach bar for lunch. After ordering, we were told by the bartender that they do not accept Apple Pay or tap-to-pay (NFC payments), so we paid with an alternate form of payment. After lunch, I decided to check with the front desk to see if they accepted digital payments for a hotel stay or, at the very least, offered a digital key with payment in full. I was told by the front desk clerk that they do not accept any digital forms of payment due to fraud concerns—even though I had booked the stay online and they had already charged the first night.
Well, since I had left my corporate physical card at home, and as a Hilton Honors member, I decided to cancel and stay at the Hilton Cabana instead. The Hilton oceanfront room was more expensive, but I was able to check in early and use Apple Pay. Honestly, there are so many ways to verify credit and debit cards these days, and Apple Pay has already completed significant verification before a card can even be added to the wallet. I travel so much, and digital forms of payment have never been an issue, though I do not usually book smaller properties. It is 2026; it would be nice if Best Western could upgrade their terminals to include NFC payments.

Do not waste your time staying here. The beachfront location is convenient, but the customer service ruined what should have been an enjoyable stay.
I booked through Expedia a week in advance and arrived around 9:45 PM. The hotel was not busy, yet the front desk employee, Maria, immediately told me my reservation had been canceled and repeatedly insisted I did not have a room. I showed my Expedia confirmation multiple times, clearly showing an active reservation. Instead of investigating, she acted annoyed and treated me as though I was inconveniencing her by asking her to honor a confirmed booking.
She then told me I needed to rebook the room so she could “reinstate” the reservation. That made no sense because Expedia later confirmed the reservation was active the entire time. Had it not been late at night with limited nearby options, I would have left and stayed elsewhere.
During check-in, Maria repeatedly demanded identification. While I was gathering the documents she requested, she continued repeating herself in a rude and impatient tone. The entire interaction felt hostile, dismissive, and highly unprofessional.
After more than 25 minutes, I was finally checked into a room. Unfortunately, the problems continued. I was charged more than $200 above my Expedia booking rate, including a $150 deposit. Because I was effectively forced to make a new reservation on-site, I still do not understand why such a large deposit was required. Maria assured me it would be returned after checkout. I caused no damage, yet a week after my stay I still had not received the deposit back.
To verify what happened, I contacted Expedia. Their representative confirmed my reservation had been valid and active the entire time. He attempted to call the hotel while I was on the phone, but nobody answered. Expedia eventually canceled the original reservation to make sure I would not be charged twice.
Parking was another major frustration. The hotel charges $45 per day and offers no complimentary parking. When my brother and I arrived, the garage appeared mostly empty, yet Maria repeatedly claimed there was no availability and directed us to third-party garages. She made no effort to explore options or help in any way.
Another employee who passed by was much friendlier and suggested returning the next day to speak with the concierge. The morning front desk team (all men) was far more professional and respectful. They explained that only the concierge could authorize parking reservations. When I spoke with him, he initially said parking was full. After reviewing availability, he found a space for us. It was frustrating to learn the issue could have been resolved from the start if someone had simply been willing to help.
Another disappointment was the lack of complimentary breakfast. Guests must purchase food from the lobby restaurant, although there are several dining options within walking distance.
The rooms were small and felt cramped for the price. The hotel was filled with an overpowering lemongrass scent that became unpleasant after a while. There was also often a homeless person lingering at the entrance and smoking around guests, which made the area uncomfortable.
The only truly positive aspect of this hotel is its beachfront location. Unfortunately, that cannot make up for reservation issues, poor customer service, parking problems, unexpected charges, an unresolved deposit, and an overall lack of professionalism. The contrast between the night staff and the much more helpful day staff only highlighted how poorly my concerns were handled upon arrival.
This was one of the most frustrating hotel experiences I have had. Between being told I had no reservation despite having proof, being charged more than expected, struggling to obtain parking, and still waiting for my deposit to be returned, I left extremely disappointed.
Despite multiple attempts to resolve these issues, I never received a satisfactory explanation. Management never followed up either.
I will not be returning and cannot recommend this hotel to others.
