Stayed here for 3 days and it was beautiful. The room was very clean and the location is quiet and hidden away. It’s super close to Sombrero Beach, where my dog had a blast. Banana Bay is a fantastic little resort in Marathon.
Ivis is AMAZING and made the experience that much better. Always had a smile on her face, was super quick with requests, and helped us feel at home.
I would be happy to come back again!!

I honestly dont like to give bad reviews but this hotel was a huge disappointment. I really researched this place through their IG page, and Expedia page and the way they promote this resort is NOTHING compared to how it looks on social media. First and foremost we stayed for 1 night with me and my family and it was OVERLY priced. We booked this resort with the expectation of the bar being inside, the pool, tennis court and the "free breakfast". The resort itself was dirty. Tennis court was dirty. And the bar was closed. The breakfast was the most disappointing as it was PACKED SANDWICHES from the gas station across the street. Sunday morning we saw a cockroach in the bathroom. However, there's a bar close by that was actually walking distance and was open till 4AM which we had a good time. But other than that this place does not look like anything at all from their social media, website, or Expedia.
Very frustrating experience. Our flight was canceled last minute due to Spirit Airlines shutting down, (we supplied proof of this documentation to the hotel) which was completely out of our control. We called the hotel immediately to ask if we could either move the reservation to different dates or receive a refund, especially since there was still availability showing on their own website.
Instead, we were met with attitude over the phone and were basically told there were no options. No flexibility, no understanding, nothing.
After reading through many of the other reviews mentioning cockroaches in the rooms and even in beds, it honestly feels like we may have dodged a bullet anyway.
Where to begin:
1. Fee for parking where you are staying.
2. Daily Resort fee that did not provide value.
3. A breakfast which was Jimmy Dean sausage biscuit, coffee and cup of yogurt. And at 0800-1000. Too late and too little.(considering the resort fee)./
4. Awning over some seating around the pool looked like resort fee is lining a pocket and not for up keep.
5. Area around the pool needs major TLC.
6. No grills.
7. No in room microwave.
8. In room fridge can hold a 6 pack of drinks and nothing else. And is not cold enough for food storage.
9. No in resort swimming area other than pool.
Pros:
If you have a boat you can dock on site. For a fee I am sure.
Room is sufficient
It is on Marathon. 5 minute drive to where we went.
Saw some bad reviews of this place in the lead up to my stay so was definitely worried about having made a mistake, but Banana Bay was a great place to stay. It was clean, the rooms are a great size and comfortable, and there is a great marina area at the back and the location is great - walking distance of some great bars and places to eat. Also, the staff were really pleasant and helpful.
A couple of things to note in regards to other reviews - yes, the breakfast isn't amazing, but it's fine if you need to pick up something quickly to get you going. I prefer heading out somewhere to eat anyway so wasn't a problem, but don't expect a full on buffet. And we were charged resort fees despite already paying them in the initial booking via booking.com, so that is something to be aware of to check, but this was quickly resolved.
The place itself is great and would definitely revisit and recommend it to others.
