Beautiful resort with great amenities. Waterslide at jambo house leaves a bit to be desired but the animals off the balcony was amazing! I have noticed though that customer service all throughout Disney has deteriorated over the past decade… Disney is known for world renowned service and most cast members anymore seem to be just phoning it in. We came to the desk because we were locked out of our room due to the door being out of power and we were told not once but twice was just a key issue and had to keep walking back and forth trying different cards before they would call engineering. Then it seemed like we were being a hassle that the sub had to come unlock our door manually so we could change out of our cold wet clothes as we were swimming before this happened. Noreen from engineering was amazingly sweet and understanding of our frustration seeing as it was almost midnight by this time and front desk were unable to move us as apparently they were at 100% capacity. After about an hour or so the problem was fixed and only thing that was done for our inconvenience was a 12:30 check out that I had at plead for because again they weren’t sure they could do that being 100% capacity. I think the whole situation was poorly handled and kind of soured my experience staying there being a deluxe level resort I expect more. I had better service at value resort. With that being said the property is gorgeous and the animals are amazing!

Worst experience I’ve had at a Disney hotel in my life as far as checking in. I was at the hotel by 9 am. Parked and check in done. I had checked in on the app to inform I’d be there before 3. By 3 my room was still not ready and I had two rooms booked. However the party with me that arrived after me had their room ready at 3. I called and they couldn’t tell me when my room would be ready. I had a family member with stomach issues and had to be waiting even past check in time. I was understanding until 3 with check in but I didn’t get my rooms until 4:30 a whole hour and a half after and I really do think it was cause I called in to ask. Also as far as location I’ll be honest as a pass holder I think it was a waste of loyalty the room they gave us. Essentially the last room in a hallway with no view other than the heads coming back from a bus stop. I’ll be honest I understand that being your cheapest room but using that as your passholder special room for someone that spends so much money continuously at Disney world, it seemed like an insult to have that as the room you offer. I again understood maybe not a Savannah view but that was the worst of the worst views. The room itself was decent with the exception again of location

We stayed here at the end of June 2026. The resort is beautiful! The cast members at front desk, bell services, and "Mousekeeping" were kind and knowledgeable.
The quick service meal location was good.I especially liked the jerk chicken fingers. The Kilamanjaro Breakfast bowl (tater tots, sausage gravy, some African spices and chees) was a family favorite.
Boma, the dinner buffet, was absolutely delicious. Big hits with the family were the Lamb curry stew and the oxtail soup. It was so good that we ate there twice on our trip
The rooms were clean and very comfortable. We had a pool view, but there was no noise. AC was very good.
AKL is farther from the parks, but the rides are not intolerable. Bus is your only option.
The only downside had to do with my insulin. Disney, like many hotels, has moved from mini fridges to electric coolers. The coolers do not get reliably cold enough to store Insulin. I ended up leaving mine with the fron desk the first night. Following nights, it was with bell services. It seemed like they did not have a clear procedure for who knew where insulin or other refrigerated medications were stored (mine was not the only one), and sone nights it took Bell Services a while to locate my case. Also, store your needles in your room. I had a set come detached from my container. I am certain they were disposed of for safety reasons

This is the second time we’ve stayed here. We had a 3 night stay. The first room had no tub, so we requested a change which they accommodated and we were thankful for that. We were traveling with a 2yo so it was a necessity for us.. the second room we were in, the air conditioning was not working right. Was set to 68 but the temp was 75 in the room. We called maintenance around 4pm. They came in replaced a part. So we went back to the theme parks. We didn’t get back in the room until midnight and the AC still wasn’t working. We talked to the front desk in the morning about it and I explained the situation, the front desk was unapologetic about this issue but sent another maintenance request. The room at this point had not gotten below 74 degrees even while we were in the room. We get back to the room again that afternoon, still no better of AC. My husband had to go to the front desk and talk to a maintenance supervisor about the issue. We got comped $185 but when you’re paying $650+ a night for a Savannah View room - you would expect working amenities like air conditioning especially in the summer heat.
Quick service was slow at The Mara. If you go during peak times, expect to be waiting 30
Minutes plus just to get food and another 15 just to check out.

We were very unhappy at the parks because four out of five days we were there the rides and shows shut down early like at 4:00 because of weather and it wasn't raining. I understand the safety of lighting but No one offered us any reimbursement for over 1/2 day of missing the rides or shows. Please understand the meal plans before you go because what they tell you is not a fact. They tell you to buy the disney refillable cups which come with the plan however no one tells you that, then you're told you can refill them in the park which is a lie because you can't find anyplace that honors that. Over all the hotel and Animal kingdom was amazing and the parade and fireworks at magic kingdom were great but for the rest of it, way over priced for a theme park and way too expensive for a family on a budget. The restaurant at Animal Kingdom lodge does not use you food credits so be sure you know that before you eat the meal that wasn't worth eating and cost over $600
