Tolles Hotel.
My fiancé and I stayed at Havana Cabana in Key West and left pretty disappointed overall. On arrival, parking was already a headache, there simply wasn’t enough of it, and we had to circle around multiple times just to find a spot, which set the tone for the stay.
There is also no elevator, which made things even more frustrating. We had to carry our luggage up a flight of stairs ourselves, which was especially inconvenient in the heat and with heavier bags.
The room itself felt dated and not well maintained. It had a worn, older motel feel rather than anything resembling a modern hotel experience. In our room, there were even visible maintenance issues such as wires hanging out of the wall behind the tv that made it hard to feel comfortable or confident in the upkeep of the property.
We had paid extra for an upgraded balcony with a supposed pool view, but what we got was misleading at best. Instead of a relaxing view of the pool, the balcony mainly overlooked the back of the kitchen area, with all the associated noise and activity.
Service was another low point. Staff came across as indifferent at best and occasionally rude, which was frustrating when trying to resolve basic issues or ask simple questions. It didn’t feel welcoming or guest-focused.
On top of that, there were overly strict and inconsistent rules around the pool area. Guests were not allowed to eat food brought from outside, which became a real issue for us as my partner has food allergies and needs to bring specific items. Even after explaining the situation, staff still refused, which felt unreasonable and unsympathetic.
The pool area itself also didn’t live up to expectations. There were very limited sun loungers available, making it difficult to actually enjoy the space unless you were out very early. On top of that, the music by the pool was consistently loud. Not a relaxed resort environment we would have expected.
Overall, the experience felt more like a basic roadside motel than a hotel or resort. For the price point, it really didn’t match expectations, and I wouldn’t choose to stay here again.
I stayed in a room for a view nights at the Key West Havana Cabana Hotel , and it was absolutely spotless and spacious. The décor was modern yet cozy, featuring a very comfortable bed with crisp, high-thread-count linens—I slept like a baby every night. The bathroom was a highlight, featuring a powerful walk-in rain shower, plush towels, and high-quality toiletries that smelled divine. A huge plus was the heavy duty windows; I didn’t hear any noise from the street or neighboring rooms. The view from the balcony was simply breathtaking. The staff truly is the heart of this hotel. Everyone from the doormen to the housekeeping team greeted us with a smile and a "good morning". A special shoutout to the concierge desk workers, who helped us secure a last-minute, hard-to-get reservation at a top local restaurant. Their professionalism made us feel welcomed and valued throughout our stay. We spent a few afternoons at the pool, which was well-maintained and never felt overcrowded. The poolside service was quick, and they offered a great selection of refreshing cocktails and light bites. The breakfast food was another highlight of our stay—a huge spread featuring fresh produce, made-to-order entrees, and warm, flaky pastries. The location is ideal for those looking to explore the city while still having a quiet place to retreat. It’s within walking distance of many major landmarks, yet tucked away from the main hustle and bustle. I cannot fault this hotel for anything. It is truly a, "A true sample of excellent hospitality" and I am already planning my next trip back. I highly recommend this property to families, couples, and business travelers alike. The EV chargers also added to the great overall experience.

My partner has already posted a review here, but since management has not responded to our written complaint, I feel compelled to leave a negative review as well.
We stayed at Havana Cabana in Key West together, and while the hotel looks attractive at first glance, the actual guest experience was very disappointing. The property itself has a nice design and appealing atmosphere, but unfortunately that is where most of the positives end.
The biggest issue was the lack of service and professionalism. The staff at the front desk, particularly the young employees at the entrance, came across as uninterested, inexperienced, and unconcerned with guest satisfaction. Any questions or complaints were handled casually, with little effort to help or resolve anything.
Housekeeping was also well below standard. Room cleaning was inconsistent, and we often had to call reception to ask when someone would come. Even then, it could take hours. What was especially unpleasant was that after the bed had supposedly been made, there was still sand in it on multiple occasions, making it seem as though the sheets had not been properly changed or refreshed.
Calling reception was frustrating, as it regularly took over a minute before anyone answered, if they answered at all.
Another major disappointment was the shuttle service to downtown Key West. The hotel advertises a shuttle every 30 minutes, yet when we were ready to return one evening at 9:15 PM, it had already left early because it was full. We had to pay for a taxi ourselves. Only afterward were we told it was first come, first served, something that had never been clearly explained before.
The worst part of the stay was the pool area during construction work. Instead of a relaxing resort environment, there was digging, exposed cables, and loud noise extremely close to guests who were trying to relax. Several people around the pool were complaining. We later learned that some guests had been informed in advance and even received compensation. We received no notice at all.
After returning home, we sent a written complaint to management to explain our concerns and give them the opportunity to respond. Even after several days, no reply was received.
In short: Havana Cabana may look good in photos, but the service, communication, and overall hospitality were far below expectations.

We stayed at Havana Cabana in Key West as a couple. The hotel itself looks great — the building, design, and pool area are visually attractive. Unfortunately, the service was extremely disappointing and far below what we expected, especially by U.S. hospitality standards.
From the moment we arrived, the overall attitude of the staff felt indifferent and unprofessional. There was little sense of hospitality, urgency, or interest in helping guests. Instead of feeling welcomed, we often felt like any question or complaint was an inconvenience.
Housekeeping was poor and unreliable. We were told rooms would be cleaned by 4 PM, yet on multiple occasions we had to call reception to ask if someone was coming. Even by 4 PM, our room still had still not been serviced. Calling the front desk was frustrating in itself, as it often took over a minute to a minute and a half for someone to answer, if they answered at all.
The hotel also advertises a shuttle to downtown Key West every 30 minutes. However, when we were waiting downtown at 9:15 PM, the shuttle had already left early. We had to pay for a taxi back to the hotel. When we asked about this, the receptionist casually told us the shuttle had been full and left early on a first come, first served basis. This policy was never explained to us beforehand, so the published shuttle schedule was clearly unreliable and misleading.
The worst part of our stay was the pool area. One day it felt more like a construction site than a resort. There was active construction taking place right next to the sunbeds, with cables being dug up only a short distance from where guests were relaxing. There was constant loud noise, disruption, and zero sense of a peaceful vacation atmosphere. Many guests were openly complaining.
What made this even more disappointing was that another guest told us they had received a discount and had been informed in advance about the construction work. We received no warning at all before arrival or during check-in. When we raised this at reception and asked for the same consideration, we were effectively told that was not true and that nothing could be done. The response felt dismissive and almost accusatory.
For a hotel that presents itself as a fun and comfortable resort experience, the reality was the opposite. Nice appearance can only take you so far. Without proper service, communication, and respect for guests, the experience falls apart quickly.
We tried to reach out to the management to give them our feedback and ask for a solution. Five days later we still haven’t got any response at all. Which seems to be in line with the employees in the hotel itself.
In summary: the property looks nice, but service and guest experience were very poor.
