  Very disappointing experience, especially for $350 per night during UF Family Weekend. About an hour after check-in, our smoke detector started going off. The front-desk clerk came to our room and reset it herself because maintenance was on break. Around midnight, the alarm went off again. We called the front desk twice and received a recording saying no one was available. The alarm continued going off about every two hours. I had to get up at 2 a.m., 4 a.m., and 6 a.m. to reset it myself. We barely slept. Even more concerning was that there appeared to be no one available overnight to assist with what could have been a real emergency involving a smoke detector. The room also had several maintenance and cleanliness issues: excessive humidity, an entrance door that was difficult to open and close, a bathroom door that scraped loudly against the floor, peeling coating in the bathtub, and what appeared to be mold on the bathroom door. During breakfast, I also saw a German cockroach crawling on the wall. I do want to recognize the front-desk clerk, who was understanding and did her best to help. My concern is with management, maintenance, cleanliness, and the apparent lack of adequate overnight support. For approximately $350 a night, this was unacceptable. Charging premium rates during UF Family Weekend is one thing, but guests should still receive a clean, properly maintained room, functioning safety equipment, and assistance when an emergency arises.

  Great hotel! The room and public areas of the hotel were immaculate. The staff was extraordinarily friendly and helpful. The bed was perfect! An added bonus is that it serves breakfast plus is right off highway 75.

  4.5 Stars I recently stayed at the HOM Hotel Gainesville and enjoyed my stay. I stayed at this hotel for one night and found the accommodations to be pretty good! I will say, after reading the reviews, I was not sure what to expect. However, the room was clean (no carpet throughout); there were no bugs or musty odor; the room did seem damp (maybe due to the time of year and humidity); the staff was friendly; and there was ample parking and restaurants within walking distance. I did not partake in the free breakfast or cookies, so I can not comment on those benefits. I did not give this hotel 5 stars because the mattress was hard/firm, although I still managed to get some good sleep, and because the property is still under construction (small areas like painting in the stairwell). Would I stay here again!? Absolutely, especially if I need a clean and affordable place for a short-term stay.

  Well, It was a good priced hotel and it wasn't nasty for its price. NO bed bugs. There is a pool and in my 3 days of being there, I saw the pool area and gym cleaned twice. But again I was out there, they may clean everyday since I saw only 2 small spider and no bugs(especially mosquitoes). The hotel had cookies for free every night(Oatmeal rasin and choclate chip, they were very yummy). They also served free breakfast. And they do have a washer and dryer on the 4th floor, it's cost 2 dollars per use on each machine, in quarters. Also very nice respectable staff. According to my mother and uncle the room was damp, but it didn't feel that way to me, so just know that. Happy stays!
