I had a great experience at the hotel, and Terrance was especially helpful and welcoming. He provided excellent customer service, was friendly and professional. His attitude really made my stay more enjoyable. I truly appreciate the hospitality and would definitely recommend the hotel, especially because of the great service from Terrance!

Its ALWAYS a good stay at the InterContinental in Washington, DC!! From the very moment u arrive, you are greeted w/a welcome and smile. My girlfriend and i did a staycation here. Being able to enjoy the spectacular wharf views from sunrise to sunset is EVERYTHING!!! Erinn checked us in and was extremely helpful making sure the room we had choose was exactly how we wanted it to be. He truly went above & beyond to make sure we were happy!! And that we were!!! The beds are top notch, rooms are extremely clean and very nice service. We even were surprised with bed turn down service and a piece of chocolate. We had a lovely visit and we look forward to seeing Erinn again as well as the rest of the staff. This will forever be ONE of our places to stay when getting away from home. Five stars!!!!

My stay was great. It started with the awesome front desk. Both Ali and Trey made check in seamless and they were able to accommodate my family (with small children) into a room that would not be close to loud music. Both Ali and Trey did everything they could to make our stay exceptional. However, at breakfast the next day, the server (Jasmine) we were given initially, was terrible. She took forever to even acknowledge our existence. After about 15 minutes with only a "I'll be with you soon", I asked her as she was passing if she would be helping our table. She turned around and snapped at me saying "yes, i will be there." No apologies, just pure attitude. I immediately asked for the manager and asked for a new server as her attitude was completely unacceptable. I am a diamond elite and a hyatt globalist and this is by far the worst attitude/service I experienced during my hundreds of nights of hotel stays. Our next server Sipan was just awesome. Apologized for Jasmine's rude behavior. Additionally, I saw other customer's complaining to Jasmine about the lack of service. In my opinion, she is obviously not fit to be in customer service and clearly will ruin the experience of guests paying $500+ a night for a room. Only reason my review is 5 stars is that all the other staff I encountered made up for the one bad apple. I typically would give this stay a 3-star for the one bad experience, but everyone else made up for it. I would stay at this property again, but maybe avoid Jasmine as a server.

Check in was poor. We came early and while there was a room ready, the front desk person warned us it might be loud as it was on the floor under the bar, so we opted to wait until a different room was ready. They said they would text when it was ready and we opted to hang out by the pool. The bellman swiped his card (since we didn’t have a room key yet) to use the elevator, but that didn’t help with the locked door on the roof that opened only with card access. We had to be let in by another guest despite the front desk saying we could use the pool. The pool was sooooo tiny and didn’t have enough seating for everyone. There were only 6 lounge chairs for the entire pool, the majority were high top seating. No one was cleaning up used towels either so they were everywhere draped on seating whether the guests were still there or not. There was also only one bartender working the bar so when he left to go restock and run food, there was no one there. We called the front desk about this and they said they could have room service run up food and drinks up to the pool. Unfortunately, the only way you could do this was if you had a room number assigned, which we didn’t. After hanging at the pool, we never received a text about our room so we had to call them to ask if it was ready. When we finally got down to the desk to get our key they had put us on the 11th floor…the floor directly under the bar that we were initially trying to avoid. We complained about this and they ended up upgrading us to a suite. At first we were excited but it wasn’t great. I would have been pissed if I’d paid full price for it. The room was old and showing its age (paint chipping and stains). The automatic drapes were broken and impossible to close manually. I had to use a chair to hold the drapes fully closed. The tv was broken and I found another persons hair pin on the floor (gross). Our air conditioner was also extremely slow to cool the room. We had it set to 67 and the thermostat read 74 for most of the evening. Finally you can hear right through the floors. You could hear the child upstairs running around, laughing and crying. All around this was a bad experience and I would not recommend nor stay at this location again…not even for free.

Wow, this was our first stop in America and it’s set the bar incredibly high. We checked in late and took a stroll down to the tiki bar (would highly recommend for locally produced rum and a great vibe), the next day we headed out into the city (you can uber or walk) and it was spectacular. The staff are all lovely and the hotel is wonderfully decorated and modern. Breakfast was delicious (highly recommend sitting outside by the river). Then we spent the afternoon up at the rooftop bar and pool (please refer to the images) with sweeping views across downtown Washington and the river it’s truly picturesque, not to mention all the landmarks you can see while lounging by the pool. The whole afternoon was made even better by the wonderful bar tender Moises, supplying us with great chat, delicious drinks (highly recommend his Moscow mule) and local knowledge. A truly fantastic setup!
