Staff was professional and location is prime to the mall, warf and Smithsonian . However parking is expensive, rooms are worn out and walls are thin. Our air conditioning only worked in one of our 2 rooms, carpet in the rooms and hall are peeling up and we could hear our neighbors through the walls and floor through the night.

I was here for mainly a day trip. The rooms were comfortable and the bed was nice. When we first arrived, late at night, the doors were locked to get into the hotel. The security person didn't know how to let us in so they had to grab someone from the front desk. We checked in, go to our room and the key cards did not work. My other half went back downstairs to get working cards. He was given new cards and said if they didn't work to call him. The new cards did not work. We called and waited. After waiting for several minutes he went back downstairs. After several more minutes, some other person came to give me card keys that worked. When my other half tried to come back up, the elevator would not go. Took awhile, but it finally worked. I could hear the street crosswalk talking thing during the night, but only if I woke up. Besides that it was nice. The breakfast place/restaurant is not open on Sundays. I don't think we would have eaten there anyway considering the prices seemed outrageous. We ate elsewhere. However, there is a Starbucks connected to the hotel so that is a plus if you like going there. Location was nice and we were easily able to walk to where we wanted to go.

Unfortunately, my experience was very mixed. On the positive side, the check-in process was genuinely one of the best I’ve ever had. The staff was energetic, welcoming, and made the experience feel easy and enjoyable. I was even able to get into my room a bit early, which I really appreciated. It's also very closely located to the national mall and the monuments. However, the issues began once I got to my room. The walls are extremely thin—I could clearly hear full conversations from the neighboring room as if they were happening right next to me. Unfortunately, my neighbors were quite loud, which made it difficult to relax. In addition, the hotel is located directly next to active railroad tracks, which run throughout the night. My room was positioned between the tracks and the elevator, so I was constantly being woken up by noise. Even when the train horn paused overnight, trains were still running and were very loud due to how close the tracks are to the building. The horn resumes again around 7 a.m., which made it nearly impossible to get consistent rest. The most serious problem happened early the next morning. Around 6:45 a.m., I woke up to two men right outside my door, talking and handling something around it. It sounded like they were inside the room. This went on for about 30 minutes and was honestly terrifying...I genuinely felt like someone was trying to get in. I ended up calling the front desk to request security, but I never received any follow-up or explanation about what happened. I was shaken for over an hour and no longer felt safe staying there. I even checked out early because of the experience. When I later asked the front desk if they had any information, I was met with an uninterested response and no answers, which made the situation even worse. Because of the lack of soundproofing, the frightening incident, and the absence of any follow-up or reassurance from staff, I cannot recommend this hotel despite the strong first impression at check-in.

The people here were so helpful and friendly to us. A special shout out to Christopher at the front desk. You helped me and my family out. You went above and beyond. I will return to this Holiday Inn location based on you alone bro. Thank you. I gave this five stars even though I had a tV with a remote that didn't work. Because when I called the front desk about it.. Someone from maintence was there in less than 5 minutes with a new remote and my TV was working great. Things are always going to happen in an unperfect world. t's how you respond to it and these guys responded very well. Thank you for an amazing time. My wife, myself and my kids had an amazing trip to DC and you were part of that reason.
