We booked this hotel nearly nine months before our trip to Washington, D.C., and although there was unexpected confusion because the property had changed ownership before our arrival, everything worked out thanks to Shahina.
I called while we were still driving from Indiana, worried we might not have a room. Even though the front desk was extremely busy, Shahina took the time to help me, assured me she had a room available, and promised she would honor the rate I had originally booked. When we arrived, she remembered our conversation and kept her word. Her professionalism, kindness, and follow-through made all the difference after a long day of travel.
The hotel itself turned out to be an excellent choice. Even though I booked it months earlier without knowing the area, the location was convenient to downtown attractions while still feeling comfortable and reasonably safe. The room was clean, quiet, and comfortable, providing a welcome place to recharge after a hot July day.
The complimentary deluxe breakfast exceeded our expectations with a nice variety of hot and cold options, making it easy to start our day before heading into the city. Parking was a little tight, but it was convenient and easy to access.
Thank you, Shahina, for turning what could have been a stressful arrival into a positive experience. Your customer service and integrity were truly appreciated.

My wife and I stayed at this hotel expecting a positive experience, and while there were some good aspects, we left feeling disappointed. The hotel itself appeared clean, well-maintained, and the beds were comfortable. Unfortunately, several issues during our stay significantly affected our overall impression.
One of the first problems we encountered was with the bathroom amenities. Upon arrival, the shower dispensers were not stocked correctly, and essential items were missing. We reported the issue to the front desk both in person and by phone, and we were assured it would be addressed. However, after being away for several hours and returning to a room that had already been serviced, the issue remained unresolved. It was frustrating to see that something so simple had not been corrected despite multiple notifications.
We also experienced a maintenance issue in the bathroom. Water repeatedly leaked from the shower area during use, causing part of the bathroom floor to flood each time we showered. While it was not a catastrophic issue, it created an unnecessary inconvenience and required us to spend time cleaning and drying the floor ourselves.
The most disappointing part of our stay occurred when an unexpected situation forced us to leave the hotel a day earlier than originally planned. Since we needed a few additional hours before departing, we requested a late check-out on the day of our early departure. The request was denied, and we were informed that keeping the room longer would result in an additional night’s charge. What made the situation even more frustrating is that we were, in fact, charged for that additional night despite leaving the hotel early and not using the room overnight. As loyal IHG members, we found this extremely disappointing. We were not asking to extend our stay beyond our reservation but rather seeking a small amount of flexibility during an unforeseen circumstance while actually shortening our stay.
While the hotel itself has many positive qualities and the property is generally clean and comfortable, the combination of unresolved service issues, maintenance concerns, and being charged an additional night under these circumstances left us with a very negative impression. We expected a much higher level of customer service and consideration, particularly from a brand that emphasizes guest loyalty. Unfortunately, this experience has been enough for us to decide that, if we return to Washington, D.C. in the future, we will be choosing a different hotel for our stay.
Edit: Following the hotel’s response, I have decided to lower my rating from 2 stars to 1 star.
After receiving the hotel’s response to my review, I asked one of my assistants to contact the hotel to better understand what had happened and to see whether we could reach a reasonable resolution regarding the night we were charged for but did not stay.
Over the course of two days, my assistant made ten separate phone calls at different times. On the first day, he repeatedly requested to speak with the manager but was told this was not possible. Later, he was informed that the manager was leaving and would not be available. On the second day, after several more attempts, he was finally able to speak with a male manager who never identified himself or provided his name.
According to my assistant, the conversation was dismissive, unprofessional, and offered no meaningful explanation. Rather than taking the opportunity to review the situation or discuss a fair resolution, the manager simply stated that the charge would stand and that there was essentially nothing to discuss. This follow-up interaction only reinforced the negative impression left by our stay.
At this point, I have lost confidence in the hotel’s willingness to address legitimate guest concerns. As a result, I will be escalating this matter to IHG Corporate, as I believe the way this situation has been handled falls well below the level of professionalism and customer service that guests should expect from the IHG brand.
Do not stay at this hotel.
