Originally opened in 1903, the Carnegie Library was a public library until 1972.
Since 2019, the Carnegie Library on Mt. Vernon Square has served as home to both the DC History Center (operated by the Historical Society of Washington, D.C.) and Apple Carnegie Library.
The DC History Center, located on the second floor, is open Tuesday-Saturday, 10am-5pm, and Sunday 12-5pm.
Apple Carnegie Library, located on the first floor, is open Monday-Saturday, 10am-8pm, and Sunday 10pm-6pm.
