- PGPink Hat GypsyJul 20, 20263.0Close to train station, a theater and a couple places to eat. Staff was nice. Rooms a little dated and musty smelling but beds were comfortable. There is an Italian restaurant with a bar on property, but they are not part of holiday inn so you cant bill to the room. About 20 minute drive to Mystic. We had a mini fridge, coffee maker & microwave, but the microwave did not work in our room. Free parking. No free breakfast. Indoor pool and work out area. If you dont have your do not disturb sign off your door when housekeeping arrives in the morning they will not go back later to clean your room. (Our sign was off at 7am but according to front desk that was too late.

Room was adequate and clean enough, remote for the TV could have probably used new batteries but it worked with some good thumps. Checking out at 3 in the morning the desk attendant was a bit rude but it could have been partially me being half awake myself. I couldn't get a printed receipt (needed for filing paperwork) due to the audit not being done yet but they did email it although I had to reconfirm my email was added at check in which it evidently didn't get saved. All in all a decent stay and room.

In terms of accomodations, it was a great hotel for what we needed this weekend. However, it did seem overpriced and the site was doing weird things when booking. When I went to book, it said $653 for two nights and then when I got billed it was 22 dollars more. Tried to get some clarification about why it went up when I called. Staff initially told me they saw the lower price on their end and would email me a confirmation but never did. Ultimately, we had to pay the higher price which I thought was deceiving. Just be honest. Lastly, there was another issue when cleaning crew came by multiple times to kick us out of the room. This was all done before 11:00 am checkout. They actually knocked on the door very loudly at 10:22 am and few more times as we were getting ready to leave. Why? If checkout is listed at 11 we should have the time up until then to gather our things, shower, leave the room. It was very startling and we felt rushed. When we talked to the front desk the staff excused the cleaning staff behavior by saying "oh well you were on the 4th floor, and they start cleaning on that floor first". Unsure how that's justification for not allowing guests ample time to leave? This is a vacation. I don't need my departure to be unnecessarily stressful. Peculiar behavior!
