The air conditioning was busted, we barely had warm water (probably two days out of five), the complimentary breakfast is served in disposable plates and cutlery, and the housekeeping service wasn't done every day. I expect these issues from a cheap hotel. Not from a Holiday Inn, express or otherwise. If I was willing to expect these issues, I would have booked at a more affordable hotel. The double bedroom is also very crowded and the building just feels very old. The one advantage is that the location is great, it's close to Coors Field, Union Station and the city Capitol as well as 16th street which is great for walking and shopping. The hotel staff is friendly. I really wish the amenities had been better quality, though!

Room 766 and 1266 - Stay July 17-22 - Guest Fernando Trueba
I booked via eDreams at Holiday Inn Express Denver Downtown (1715 Tremont Place).
First, Room 766 had NO working AC, very hot (33°C), impossible to sleep. Front desk only offered loud floor fans that blew hot air.
They kindly moved me to Room 1266 with AC, thank you for that. But now in Room 1266 there is NO electricity / light during the early morning hours.
Two major failures in two different rooms in the same stay. I reported both issues at reception. Still waiting for a definitive solution and written report.
Basic services should work. Hoping management can fix this and provide compensation.
Also i have some videos about this issue

I would strongly discourage anyone from staying at the Holiday Inn Express Denver Downtown.
This property failed on several basic hospitality standards, and the overall experience was incredibly disappointing. The rooms are dated and substandard, the service is indifferent at best, and management appears completely unconcerned about addressing guest issues.
The first major problem was the hot water. Each morning, it took approximately 10 to 15 minutes of running the shower before hot water finally arrived. When I brought this to the attention of the staff, the explanation I received was simply, “It’s an old building.” That was the entirety of the response. Hot water is not a luxury amenity—it’s a basic expectation for any hotel guest. The fact that this issue is apparently known and accepted by management speaks volumes about their commitment to guest comfort.
The second—and even more frustrating—issue was the air conditioning. Guests should be aware that the thermostat in the room is essentially useless because the building centrally controls the temperature. During our summer stay, the room remained uncomfortably warm throughout the night, making it difficult to sleep. We contacted the front desk and were told an engineer would be sent to adjust the system. No one ever showed up, and the problem was never resolved. We spent the night tossing and turning in a hot room after a long day of travel.
What made the experience especially frustrating was not just the problems themselves, but the complete lack of urgency or concern shown by the staff. There was no effort to offer a solution, no follow-up, and no indication that guest comfort was a priority.
For the price charged, this hotel delivers an experience far below what travelers should reasonably expect. Between waiting 15 minutes for hot water, sleeping in a room that felt stuffy and overheated, and receiving little more than excuses from the staff, this stay felt like a complete waste of money.
There are far too many hotel options in downtown Denver to settle for this one. I will never stay here again and would recommend that prospective guests look elsewhere.

Came here for my wife’s work function and I don’t typically leave bad reviews but we were disappointed with the hotel. Now mind you the staff was friendly and attentive, but it just seemed like whoever owns this hotel is just letting it fall apart. Our first room had a couch that folded out into a bed but wouldn’t fold out all the way because the room was so small. We couldn’t get a fridge for my daughter’s milk so we had to buy a cooler at Target and the ice machine on our floor was broken. Turns out according to the staff the only working ice machine was on the 17th floor. The water in the shower was frigid but wouldn’t fold warm up after a few minutes (learned this very painfully the first day. There was no washer or dryer to do laundry, so I walked the laundromat (terrible idea). I’m guessing you are solely paying for location and breakfast was included which was also nice. The next day they did move us to a larger room with a fridge because again the staff did well under the circumstances. If the owner would fix the ice machine and the water heaters this hotel would be solid.

I recently stayed at a Holiday Inn Express, and unfortunately, the experience was very disappointing.
Throughout our stay, there was rarely anyone at the front desk. The phone in our room did not work, so we couldn’t call for assistance. We needed basic items like toothpaste and extra towels, but there was no staff available to help us. We waited at the front desk for about 25 minutes before anyone arrived. By that time, there was already a long line of guests waiting. The front desk attendant eventually came back carrying breakfast food and bowls, leaving guests unattended for an extended period.
As someone who has previously worked in the hotel industry, I understand that unexpected situations happen. However, guest service should always be the top priority. Basic supplies should be readily available, room phones should be functional, and the front desk should never be left unattended for such a long period of time. I was also disappointed that there were no laundry bags in the room and no complimentary amenities or recognition of our loyalty member status.
Overall, this stay fell far below the level of service I expected from Holiday Inn Express. I hope this feedback helps improve the experience for future guests.
