  Great location. Clean. Modern. Overall, one of the nicer spots I’ve stayed near a national park.

  I wanted to like Holiday Inn Express & Suites Twentynine Palms, so I’ll start where they got it right. The young man at the front desk working the evenings (4/29–5/1) was genuinely friendly and helpful. He stood out. The breakfast staff as well, kind, attentive, and on it. And a small but meaningful win: when we asked to refill our water bottles before heading out to hike, they immediately refilled the large water dispenser in the gym. That kind of responsiveness matters when you’re dealing with desert heat. Breakfast itself was what you’d expect from a complimentary spread. Edible, nothing memorable. Eggs that exist, coffee that does the job, you get the idea. Now the part that really shouldn’t happen anywhere, at any price point. Our room was not properly cleaned before we arrived. There was a used washcloth hanging in the tub and, worse, fecal matter on the bathroom floor. That’s not a small oversight, that’s a full stop problem. When I reported it, someone came to clean, but that was it. No offer to change rooms, no gesture to make it right, not even an acknowledgment of how unacceptable that situation was. I also requested daily cleaning and was brushed off with “we are short staffed.” I understand staffing challenges, but that doesn’t erase basic cleanliness expectations, especially after what we walked into. End of the day, the staff in a couple of roles tried, but the overall experience missed the mark where it matters most. Cleanliness and accountability. I wouldn’t stay here again.

  Very clean and nice staff. Breakfast was good and great location for Joshua Tree National Park.

  Room was clean. After you plug things in and turn on frig. everything worked. CLOSE to park. Day one, 4/10/2026, they ran out of breakfast food, coffee was cold- a problem of both quantity and quality. Day two, breakfast was much better in both categories. Also, My room card kept breaking. No one at front desk at checkout. No one cleaned my room. Not enough employees?

  Only decent hotel nearby, but the front desk experience was honestly one of the worst I’ve had. I had to ask about everything .. how to get to my room, Wi-Fi access, breakfast timing, pool hours, even where to find towels. Nothing was explained upfront. The front desk staff seemed completely uninterested, almost as if they were doing me a favor rather than providing a service. It really made the stay uncomfortable. I chose this place because it’s a Holiday Inn under IHG and expected at least basic standards of hospitality. Otherwise, I would have stayed elsewhere. When you’re on vacation, the last thing you need is that kind of negative vibe.
