We had a great time on the Santa Barbara Funk Zone Tour on April 23rd. Kudos to our guide Lizette, who made it fun and interesting. She enthusiastically shared local history and her love of the area came though. On our tour we had Octopus ceviche as Santo Mezcal (one of our favorites), Schnitzel and Gravy covered fries at The Brewhouse, a soft Taco with 3 kinds of sauce at Mony's Taqueria, The O.G. Pizza (San marzano marinara, fennel sausage, calabrian chile, smoked mozzarella, arugula at Lucky Penny, 2 wines at Fess Parker Funk Zone, and finally 2 scoops of our choice at McConnell's Fine Ice Cream. This was worth every penny and would wholeheartedly recommend to anyone considering a food tour in the Santa Barbara area, Pro Tip: Eat a VERY light breakfast - it was a lot of food.

What fun! Hannah, our food tour guide was delightful. Our stops along the tour provided varied foods, much like a progressive dinner. Everything was very tasty, all of the merchants were prepared for us and were very welcoming. Definitely would recommend this tour in Solvang.

Food tours offer a unique way to explore local cuisine with multiple stops, making it a fun option for group celebrations. We consider ourselves huge foodies and were all very excited for this experience in SB. We did a two-hour tour on a Saturday which included four stops. From the start, Tara, the owner, was very accommodating. She worked with us to modify the experience to fit our budget and last-minute changes, which made planning smooth and flexible. It was also interesting learning the history of Santa Barbara from our tour guide. However, the experience had some drawbacks. The taco stop was underwhelming as we were all served chicken tacos that were dry and under-seasoned. We had hoped to sample different proteins, or at least carne asada, to get a broader taste of the local flavors. Additionally, our seating was not at the restaurant, but across the street where some table benches were available outside. It had a broken umbrella with barely no shade, which made the dining experience hot and uncomfortable for our group. At the ice cream stop, we were looking forward to selecting our own flavors, but we were given coffee and cookie dough instead which was disappointing. At $156 per person, the quality of food did not meet expectations. For comparison, we ate at Barbareno for a 7-course meal, priced similarly per person and they offered exceptional and high-quality dishes. Given that this is a food tour with a premium price, we anticipated a higher caliber of food overall. In summary, while the tour is well-organized and flexible, the food quality and variety fell short of expectations for the price paid. It may suit those looking for a casual group activity, but food enthusiasts seeking top-tier tasting experiences might find it lacking.

We did the Solvang food tour with guide Hannah - we had never visited Solvang before and this was a great way to learn about the history of the area and sample a variety of local eateries with quintessential Danish eats.

Ryan and Lizette were great! They were flexible and energetic! This tour has so much food to eat! You won’t leave hungry and you really cover most of the Funk district. Loved it!
