Checked in at 5 p.m., went and had dinner and then came back. The room was clean, had a bit of a funny smell, not necessarily bad but not everyone's cup of tea. Unfortunately the problem didn't have to do with the hotel itself. From 8 p.m. until at least 5 a.m. you could hear everything in the rooms on either side and the other guests didn't seem to care much about anyone else staying in the hotel trying to sleep, you can hear every knock on every door, every bump or bang in the other rooms, doors constantly being slammed, every step from every person that walked by our window, to top it off at 2 a.m. one of the other guests decided to bump the bass in his car in the parking lot until 4:30 right outside our window. We packed up and left by 5 a.m. when we hadn't planned on leaving until 8, purely because we couldn't sleep. I guess you get what you pay for with a hotel that is $100 a night in California.

The rooms are small, they smell a lot of urine, the room where we. We stayed, that smell was strong
The service at the front desk this gentleman has a very bad temper I don't understand why the people who are at the head of a business like this are so
The photos are from breakfast

Naveen at the front desk gave me some of the worst customer service I have ever experienced in my life. I came down for a simple Do Not Disturb placard, and although another guest was there first, the way Naveen spoke and handled the situation was shockingly rude, hostile, and unprofessional.
I recognized him as the same person who checked me in around midnight, and he was rude then too. When I tried to let the other guest go first, Naveen told me that if I did not like it, I could leave, and even told me to close my mouth. That is completely unacceptable behavior from anyone working a hotel front desk.
To be clear, the room and the hotel itself were fine. My issue is specifically with Naveen. He is one of the rudest employees I have ever dealt with anywhere.

The SureStay by Best Western in San Rafael is clean, convention on off of the highway, and has a great coffee shop across the street. It has all the bare minimums you need for a stay. There is no luxury here, but the owner operators are friendly and helpful. The parking lot is tight, and the 2nd floor does not have elevator access. If you are looking for something with no frills, this is your place. We did have a refrigerator in the room, so that was helpful.
