Update: I received no further communication from anyone at the hotel, but just noticed they initiated a refund for the mystery charge, so I am updating my stars from 1 to 3. The hotel overall is nice, but needs some renovating before I would really consider it a "Plus" location. Original Review: My stay itself was fairly okay (aside from finding a ton of spiders in the bathroom at check-in; the carpet should also really be replaced soon), but the day I checked out I was charged an additional amount (I verified it was not the $25 deposit) even though I had already paid in full before my stay. It's marked as being manually entered even though I never presented my credit card at check-out. When I called just now to ask what the charge was for, the man who answered the phone told me the charge does not exist and that if I have any issues I need to contact the 3rd party booking site. I explained that the charge was clearly marked "BEST WESTERN AIRPORT P SAN JOSE CA" on my bank statement and that the Folio I was e-mailed after my stay also listed the charge, but not what it was for. The man then cut me off, saying we never sent you a receipt, the charge does not exist. I offered to forward him a copy of the receipt as well as my bank statement showing the charge, but he said that would not be necessary and again insisted that I should just contact the 3rd party booking site. I asked him if he could please put this all in writing so I that could have proof of what he was claiming when I attempted to contact the 3rd party booking site, and he said no, that will not be necessary, they should already know what the charge is for. I explained that no, they and I don't, which is why I was calling. We went in circles for a while until I eventually just said that I would dispute the charge - if it wasn't from Best Western then it shouldn't matter right? He again insisted, that would not be necessary and that I should just contact the 3rd party booking site. When I reiterated that I would just dispute the charge since he couldn't tell me what it was for, he started outright screaming at me over the phone that everything I was saying was incorrect, that they did not charge me anything, and that I should just call the 3rd party booking site. When I was finally able to get a word in and ask him why he was yelling at me, he went silent and just hung up the phone. Like, I wasn’t even asking for my money back, I just wanted to know what the charge was for…

Horrible experience, denied my reservation, Booked a room for my Son as he arrived in San Jose Airport from boot camp, the plan was for him to shower an unwind from his trip until I could get to San Jose, 6 hours away. Well thev denied his check in as he is 19 years old about to be 20. due to their "strict" policy needing to be 21. Staff was not helpful as they did not care that he had nowhere to go and was left stranded and refuse to refund money. How absurd it is to be able to sign up to serve our country at 18 years old but cannot check in to a room at 19 Unbelievable. Do better.

Attendant suggested booking the room with booking.com and we did so and paid for our room only to find out it wasn't paid for and had to pay again at full price the next morning... honestly I'm confused if it's the hotel or the websites fault.

Great breakfast with real eggs, about as good and safe of a location you can ask for in San Jose
