Friendly, clean, and affordable hotel in downtown SF? Yes, please. My room was old and smaller but well maintained, plus all the amenities of a fancy stay. I would definitely stay here again!

I used booking.com to book and PAY for 3 nights at this hotel at a hotel of 297.65 PLUS A 150$ security deposit that they require a credit OR debit card for and they hold the funds so u can not use this 150$ until you check out after they check your room. Now I really really really needed room. The day I booked the room i was only scheduled to work from 5pm to 10pm at work but my boss asked me to cover for someone who called in so I woke up early and went in at 10am instead and still worked until 10pm. The day before same thing only scheduled to work 5pm to 10pm except I got a message at 5am asking me to come in at 7am so I worked 7am until 10pm. Im tired and really need to rest because I again have work tomorrow and the following 2 days. So I paid for 3 nights at this hotel. I left work to go check in because when I had called earlier and asked if I could check in a bit early to make it easier on myself so I wouldn't have to leave work and drive 30 mins to check in (and I even offered to pay extra) they said absolutely not. When I asked how much for a deposit a woman said 150$ to be paid for with a credit card with a visa or Mastercard logo. Good great grand I have that. So 3pm rolls around im omw to hotel I call to double check the amt of deposit and a man answers he tells me 150$ on a major cc I tell him its my cash app card which is what I used to pay the 300$ for the room he rudely tells me that wont work. I tell him what the woman told me earlier and that my card had a visa logo and there is plenty of money in my account. No he says and starts to get extremely rude. I try my hardest to keep my cool and to try and reason with this man but there was absolutely no reasoning with him he was adamant about the fact that it didn't matter if I had already paid for the hotel he didn't care about my situation he didn't want to hear anything of it if I didn't have a major credit card he didn't care I would have to take it up with booking and get a refund he didn't care that I wasn't going to have a place to stay he didn't care about anything all he cared about was his greedy greedy stupid money. I called booking.com immediately and told them what had happened they did research and found that I was in compliance with all the rules and regulations and that this hotel had to let me stay when booking.com called the hotel the man said he absolutely did not want me staying there this man had never even met me I then went into the hotel after finding my major credit card at home the man had told me that the booking.com people had already canceled my reservation he lied right to my face they didn't just cancel it they called it to negotiate with him and he told them that he didn't want me to stay there but when I showed up with my credit card he changed his story don't stay here it's appalling what this person did this man should not own a hotel he's a horrible human being and I highly highly suggest never ever ever ever ever ever ever even thinking about staying here

I always book through best western app and this was by far the worst experience. The facility, overall, was dirty and run down. NOTE: It is definitely NOT handicap accessible. We had to carry our sleeping daughter up the steps in her stroller because there are no elevators or ramps at the entrance of the building. But if you can get inside the building they have an elevator. Our room had no a/c but this is common in the Bay area. Its advertised as having parking available. Dont believe that! We had to pay $55 to park at a garage down the street. There were drug addicts and prostitutes outside the front of the property and even sitting in the entrance stairway. BAD LOOK! With the price I paid for parking and my room, I could have and should have stayed at Fisherman's Wharf. I won't ever stay here again.

Disappointing family stay – Great location, but terrible comfort and safety issues I stayed here for 4 nights with my family, and unfortunately, it was a very stressful experience. The Bad: Awful sleep quality: The first room had an incredibly uncomfortable, worn-out mattress. The walls are paper-thin, so you can hear everything. Our second room was right next to a noisy family. Room change & service: When we requested a room change due to the bed, we were told the hotel was fully booked. I followed up with a formal email to finally get moved the next day. Also, there was no housekeeping service during our entire stay. Safety & Environment: The area outside is filled with noise, bad smells, and felt unsafe. On our first day, a homeless person was exposing himself right outside the entrance. Cancellation & Penalty: When we asked to cancel our remaining nights because we felt unsafe, we were informed about a 1-night cancellation penalty policy. However, after we explained that we wanted to leave specifically due to the safety issues and the incident with the person exposing himself, management offered us a discount so we would stay. The Good: The rooms themselves were clean, and the location is excellent for getting around. While we appreciated that they eventually gave us a discount for two nights and moved us to another room (though it smelled heavily of disinfectant), the street environment and the lack of comfort ruined the trip. I would not recommend staying here if you are traveling with family or looking for a restful night.
