Shower takes about 5min to get hot and dont like all the Pride flags everywhere - it alienates customers with different values.

I will start be saying this is a beautiful hotel. It feels luxury when you first arrive. The service we've experienced here is fabulous. The staff are great. No notes for them. We've been staying at a lot of hotels lately. This summer is a trip around the western US and in a different hotel every two days. We've chosen mostly IHG hotels because we love many of the amenities like spaciousness, consistent beds, breakfast, and 24/7 coffee availability. None of which we experienced at Hotel Spero. The pillows are overstuffed. This made my neck feel like it was at a 90° angle pointed toward the ceiling. I had to ditch pillows and use a balled up sweater from my suitcase as a flatter pillow. Many thanks to Vera Wang for saving my neck. The bed is very hard and could use a pillow top of some kind. I like firm beds, but this felt a little like laying on the box spring. The included breakfast buffet is huge at this chain of hotels. We ended up eating outside the hotel since the option in house wasn't included and didn't offer anything our kid would eat. Coffee is essential. Both caffeinated and decaf. Especially before noon. I was looking forward to grabbing a cup after breakfast, but it was gone when we returned sometime between 10:30 and 11 am. I was so sad! Coffee is all day event. I thought this knowledge was universally agreed upon. We had three people in our room and only space for one person's luggage. We have been known to function well in small spaces, but this was an exception. All the pretty knick knacks were nice, but they got in the way of all the stuff we brought for our trip. Both in the room and in the bathroom. Little jars of stuff you might need is thoughtful, but would be better left at the front desk for those who need them. Space in this hotel is at a premium. The water pressure. If you've ever had to bathe using the trickle of water from a sink, you'll understand this shower situation. I never had until now. That's the only way I can describe it. I understand that's a larger issue and harder to solve. I'm just sharing our experience for people who are considering staying here. Did I get myself thoroughly showered? Yes. But it did take longer. And washing my hair here is outta the question. My hair is curly and thick and I'd have been in there for hours trying to get shampoo and conditioner out of my hair. It's probably perfect for anyone with really short or thin hair, though! I swear the entire experience wasn't terrible, but it has been my least favorite of the trip. The city view was exciting. We loved being able to open a window and hear the city. The TV is great. We laughed at some movies at night while we settled into bed. As I said, the room style is beautiful. Love the design. The wall mirror was in danger of coming home with me, but it's too big. 😂 We were in walkable distance to see some cool things and walk to a tour bus that brought us to see other cool things. Our trip through San Francisco was still a huge win. Keeping with some of the IHG standards would go a long way here. Simple things like pillow options and coffee all day. These are just my opinions and only valuable if others agree. If I'm the only one with these concerns then they don't really mean much. I'm not in this area very often, as I live in another state. Overall, nobody died and all our basic needs were met. * Excuse the mess in the room in my pics. We always leave a place tidy. We just need space to make our stuff accessible during our stay. I'm showing how little space we had for the stuff of 3 people. And the awesome TV and mirror. ✨ Edit: Something I forgot. A night light in the bathroom would be awesome. There's one outside the bathroom, but you have to fully close the door to use the toilet, so it's not useful in the middle of the night. That bathroom is pitch black.

Katheryn at the Spero Hotel went above and beyond to help me with lost packages last week. She was kind, patient, and incredibly proactive throughout the whole process. What could’ve been a really stressful situation ended up feeling manageable because she took the time to assist me and follow through. Her customer service was excellent, and I’m so grateful for her help. Thank you, Katheryn!

I had a wonderful experience at Esper Bar in Hotel Spero. The manager, was warm, attentive, and made sure everything went smoothly from start to finish. The food was excellent — fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented, with every dish tasting just as good as it looked. It was a pleasant and memorable visit overall, and I’d happily come back.

A hotel is not responsible for how the area around it falls apart over time but it can at least take steps so that guests can feel safe and don’t need to venture outside by having vending machines and room service available. The hotel has the worst problems of San Francisco visible from every window of the hotel. It would feel awful everyday to see the sights of the city and then return through the ugly streets back to our rooms. The staff do the best they can but are clearly undermanned to handle the work. Any service here was unavailable or lacking. No one responds on the intercom. We have stayed at student hostels that are better run. The rooms are OK, comfortable but lacking in basic appliances (fridge, coffee maker, etc.) that even smaller ihg properties have. For the price you pay for a night you could stay at any of the better hotels nearer to Union Square.
