Nice location close to everywhere, close to NAYA Dessert, BART 9th market, good restaurants like Chez Maman and A Mano. Staff is really nice, kitchen clean and room is clean. Definitely will come back if I travel to San francisco

This place was a new experience for me never stayed at a hotel like this. It’s very difficult and mis leading with the instructions. You get a code but you have to then go to another message and get a room number. Also tried calling multiple times no answer was getting frustrated but yet they were answering messages. There is no reception. And another thing the rooms don’t have bathrooms and showers they are shared with other guests. I feel like they should provide better instructions.

I’ve been staying at Hayes Valley Inn since 2018 after I moved away from SF because I used to work in Hayes Valley and would look up at their kitchen from the corner of Hayes and Gough and watch Inn guests people-watch while eating their breakfast. And at night, we’d chat with visitors who would wander into Dobb’s for a drink. It used to be a hospitable b&b with check-in desk, breakfast spread, and hotel workers on-site. COVID changed that and it seemed like the Inn changed ownership. Less human interaction and no breakfast spread. Nonetheless, I continued to stay there every trip and my husband and I even stayed there when we got married. We walked to city hall and back in our wedding attire. I recently booked a trip through Booking.com for my first weekend away from my toddler and husband and had to change the dates. While the Inn allowed me to rebook twice since they have rooms available, the price to add on an extra night was steep in comparison to the price listed on Booking and even on their website. Their reasoning was that I was rebooking closer to my trip date. I checked 3 times within an hour span of adding on the date and the prices were still significantly less than the amount I was being charged even on the Hayes Valley Inn website. When I messaged the Inn about this, the only response I got was “the room price changes everyday”. So it’s still cheaper than the price they rebooked me at every day not just within the hour I rebooked it?
I requested a full refund because I’d rather spend the same amount or more at a hotel with a private bathroom or with breakfast included.
Do yourself a favor and don’t stay here, the state of the Inn and their hospitality has declined.
UPDATE: I received a reply for this Google review but not from a manager. Absolutely ridiculous.

Cet hôtel est idéalement situé à San Francisco pour un prix très abordable, c'était pratique pour découvrir la ville. Les parties communes étaient très propres après le passage de la femme de ménage qui est très efficace et sympathique. Notre chambre a été faite tous les jours, avec serviettes propres tous les jours. La chambre est petite mais suffisante et confortable pour quelques nuits.
Malheureusement, une salle de bain partagée implique de devoir faire avec le savoir-vivre des uns et des autres. Lors de notre séjour, nous avons systématiquement dû laver la baignoire avant de nous doucher le soir, car celle-ci était souillée de poils, cheveux et produits cosmétiques. Idem pour les toilettes qui ont souvent été bouchés. Ce n'est pas de la responsabilité du personnel (la femme de ménage était top), mais c'est à savoir avant d'y séjourner. Nous avons également regretté qu'il n'y ait pas de plaques de cuisson dans la cuisine, il n'est donc pas possible de cuisiner à moins de n'utiliser que le micro-ondes et la bouilloire. Enfin, il n'y a pas de personnel sur place pour vous accueillir, tout se fait de manière autonome, ce qui est pratique à l'arrivée, mais qui n'est pas optimal sur la durée du séjour. Une connexion internet est nécessaire pour activer la clé de votre chambre. Il faut systématiquement son téléphone pour accéder à la chambre, ce n'est pas le plus pratique.
